Crime What did the cops do wrong today Megathread Vol. 6 ? (who knows, lots of cop threads)

No matter what, you have to have the ability to talk to people. Some are fine until the person becomes uncooperative or aggressive. Some officers simply don’t possess those skills. Some cops are fantastic and I honestly think that it was part of the reason I didn’t have to use force all too often.
Reminds me when my buddy was a top 3 pick in his department to make sergeant until the part where other officers weighed in on who they wanted in the position, and he dropped to 7th place- “you can the kind of cop people like, or you can be the kind of cop that cops like.”

Some do, some don't. The problem is there is ZERO accountability. This attracts bullies, narcissists, and psychopaths. So our cops are literally out worst members of society and they are given immunity from consequences.

Crazy, right?
There’s also a ton of people who become cops for lack of any better option. They see the salary and low education requirements and decide fuck it- it beats working at Home Depot.

This is one of the reasons I liked that our promotions were all based on a written test. I was very good at written tests but I wasn’t the most popular officer for some reason. Some officers felt I was too pro citizen’ rights, others just didn’t like me and there was a good bit of jealousy there because I made sergeant the fastest in pd history when most never make sergeant-I made it in 8 years and there were guys that worked there for 30 and never made sergeant or didn’t want the responsibility that comes with being a police supervisor. I made lieutenant at 16 years, which would have been the record but another guy edged me out because he beat me on the test by a few points and got Lt a few months before me.

Anyway, some of the cops would run their mouth and ask if I was going to hug the suspect or buy him a meal or some shit like that because I didn’t treat people like shit and I did homeless outreach. Some guys loved that about me and were and still are fiercely protective of me even though I have been gone for 4 years. I always told my guys that I would have their back and fight for them until the end-but, if they fucked up, I will never lie for you. Hell, I turned another officer in for excessive force but the victim refused to cooperate

If you can't use pepper spray, give em a good beat down?

Cops vs 1st amendment:

The interesting thing about this clip is the inclusion of some of the recording of Turner v Driver, which IMO shows just how ridiculous the 5th Circuit is. And then how Law Enforcemrnt Agencies just ignore that ruling because its inconvenient to them

More stories about DUI arrest fuckery.

This Nashville station has been doing an entire series of reports on false DUI arrests in Tennessee. Apparently, Tennessee cops won't breathalyze people on the roadside and will frivolously take them into custody on suspicion of DUI even if they pass the arbitrary sobriety tests. If they're arrested, it takes several months, sometimes close to a year, to get test results back from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to clear the case.

This guy got arrested after passing the sobriety test because the cop knows that one of his relatives smokes weed and hence assumed that he did too.

This old man got arrested after telling the officer that he was shooting pool, and the officer's expert analysis is that sober people don't shoot pool.

Another story about a "DUI specialist" who keeps arresting sober people.

In Albuquerque, the entire DWI unit is under FBI investigation for corruption. A bunch of officers have resigned or been fired.

The lawyer for the first guy sent a bunch of FOIA requests to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on DUI arrests and got them to disclose that over 600 sober people were arrested for DUI in the state between 2017 and 2023.

The crime of walking down the sidewalk at a time they dont like...looking where they dont like...talking how they dont like, and not carrying your papers:

More false DUI arrest BS.

These idiot cops arrested this sober bus driver after she disclosed that she was on prescription pain killers that she'd taken the night before. The prescription was reported to the state when she applied for her CDL and approved after a physical.

However, the jackass who arrested her somehow determined that her doctor and the DMV had screwed up and that she wasn't allowed to take prescription medicine at night before driving during the day.

This was after he wrongfully concluded that she'd failed the sobriety testing.

Charges were eventually dropped, but she lost her job because of the arrest.

Hopefully she gets nice payout but it will come from the taxpayers not the asshat cop who arrested her and is still working the streets.

Phoenix PD and Maricopa County Attorney's Office are at it again.

An incompetent homicide detective was allowed to retire on disability (despite not being disabled) after it was revealed that she had botched multiple cases by not properly logging evidence, falsifying reports and lying under oath.

One conviction has already been overturned due to her misconduct, but the local prosecutor's office is defying a court order to notify other defendants in cases that she handled of her misconduct.

Not only is this contempt of court, but it's literally an unconstitutional violation of due process.

Also, the only reason that the ex-detective even became a homicide detective in the first place is because she's married to a deputy chief in the department, who got her an unjustified promotion and assignment to homicide.

Guy walks towards cops with a gun. Male cop and female cop start shooting him. Second female cop turns her head and pulls her trigger shooting the male cop in his hand and arm. Cop lived, suspect died. I'd say shooting your own friend counts as a cop doing something wrong.

Maricopa is a disgrace. The most corrupt county in the USA.

Another one that fkn makes you go...."is this real life?"

Just even how manipulative and utterly retarded the other cops are. Such fkn dumbasses.

This is why any good lawyer tells you don't talk to them, they are not your friends. If given the slightest chance they will look to get as many arrest as possible.

Jesus Christ...then the cop arguing with a 66 year old lady trying to cross the street.
Telling her to get off the street to the sidewalk but don't walk on the sidewalk.

Even in a housing project full of druggies with degenerate down & out criminals somehow the cops still manage to make themselves look like the bad guys.

Not sure how it will work in New Mexico.
She did strike him with a vehicle & put him at risk.
He was the aggressor and escalated a lot of that. However, he clearly used deadly force once he was clear & she was driving away.

Trial next month. Charged with murder.
