Here’s one that pisses me off. Cops tried to arrest a man for holding a sign warning of a radar trap on road ahead. Cop approached and ordered him to stop. Man knew his rights, the fucking cops did not. Anyway, they try multiple times to grab his sign and tear it into pieces. The guy then left and flipped the officers the bird as he left and the officers then pulled him over for using an improper turn signal(holding your left arm straight out your window indicates a left turn. Raising it up to a 45 degree indicates a right turn. Well, he flipped the bird and then went left, so they cited him for improper use of a turn signal. These fucking cops are Joking and laughing about citing and fucking with him, not realizing they just violated someone’s first amendment rights and were to uneducated about the laws that govern us that they falsely arrest him.

It cost the city 50k to settle. You can’t have officers out there not knowing the laws and knowing what activity is covered under certain rights. This makes me sick.

Maybe the fine should come from their pension fund instead of the city. Maybe they’ll start policing themselves.

If any department hires them they will be setting themselves up for a hell of a law suit if the fuck up and any arrest they make a defense lawyer would see it on their record.

The citizens are afforded the pleasure of paying the fines for bad police behavior that’s done against them though, so they do have that going for them.

In the old days, a termination was basically a "do not hire." However now, with a lack of anyone wanting the job, unfit officers fired from other departments frequently get scooped up by others

My only issue with that is that it punishes the retired cops that had nothing to do with this. I don’t like the way qualified immunity is structured in that this exact situation has had to have occurred before the officers can be sued individually, which I think is appropriate in this situation. They maliciously arrested a man in front of his son because they didn’t know the first amendment. Fucking idiots.
