Crime What did the cops do wrong today Megathread Vol. 6 ? (who knows, lots of cop threads)

The officers didn't do anything wrong in this one. It was a private business that decided it didn't want the retard in their stores.

Escorting him from the store because the employees asked for him to be removed wasn't wrong.

Beating him up because he refused to show ID after he alread left the store to avoid being trespassed was.

That's why the one cop is under indictment.

Here’s a good one. Cops go to arrest guy who then flees into traffic. They taser him and he gets hit by a car while being tased. Death ensues immediately Lots of good discussion to be had here.

First, is taking this guy into custody really that necessary that a foot chase
Onto a bush highway is needed? I would say no, however, he is fleeing into a busy highway, so he could cause a very serious accident.
Ultimately, the blame is on him. But this will likely lead to a discussion of when police chase idiots and when they don’t

Before I watched the video I was thinking that the kid was a fucking idiot that got what he deserved. After watching the video I still think the kid was a dumbshit, but I also now think that Larimer County will be paying someone a hefty settlement.

At what part of the video do they beat him up? All I saw was him intentionally fall while they were removing him. Also it sounds like the cop was under indictment for an unrelated shooting.

Dude, the first video that I linked is literally all about how he got charged for that specific incident.

Maybe even the driver of the vehicle as well.

Tazing someone on the highway with cars coming straight at them is pretty much murder. Cops are lucky this guy was white.

BS. they did everything wrong. The guy was severely disabled and they treated him like a bunch of school-yard bullies.

The only aspect of your post that is correct is the last statement. The argument is there that they tased him to keep him out of traffic, but during the chase, lost sight of the traffic lane. They are likely responsible civilly, but criminally? Ridiculous

Huh? They're staring down a truck coming straight at them and then taze him.

Have you ever had to chase someone while drawing a weapon? You become hyper focused on that person and not on other dangers in the environment. Criminal charges? Shut up

The taser cycle is a standard five second cycle. It can be shut off at any time by flipping the power switch off, however, I am not sure it would have made a difference in this situation because he either would have stayed in place or he would have gotten up and tried to run again, still getting hit.

No. And the cops didn't have to chase this guy into traffic either. This guy wasn't El Chapo. It was a routine traffic stop.

Manslaughter then, either way. Tazing someone on the street is like shooting the person behind the criminal. It is sloppy bullshit. He knew he was on the highway, and the cop was in no danger. He has the whole run through the grass to decide what he was going to do. That is too much tunnel vision to be competent, but probably homicide.

I said the same thing in my first post, however, you also still have a guy running into traffic, which is extremely dangerous. I simply don’t think the officer realized he was so far out in the road when he fired the taser. He lost sight of his surroundings, which happens in a chase. I wouldn’t expect you to understand having never done anything of the sort
