Movies What character in a movie could have been great, but the actor they cast didn’t fit the role?

I'm still not the biggest fan of Jamie Foxx as Django. Granted in hindsight Will Smith would have been a even worst casting now but back then he would have been the ideal choice if he wasn't such a drama queen.

Denzel or Elba as Django could have been better.

It's too bad that Samuel was too old and already in the movie as someone else to play that character. Having him be the same guy but older in Hateful 8 could have been really interesting.

It wasn't the worst thing ever. But I think the original idea was Adam Sandler who has a somewhat similar physical stature and would have done the same thing but been a more natural actor I think.

I'm happy they didn't go that route. Adam Sandler has reached that place where hes Adam Sandler regardless of what character he plays.

None of the characters in Inglorious Bastards got the development they deserved because the movie format does not provide enough time for that. But that doesn't mean there was anything wrong with said characters.

Tarantino being a film director instead of a TV showrunner is a tragedy tbh. So much talent wasted producing 2 hours of story at a time. Gets me mad just thinking about it.

It sounds good but Sam as Stephen is one of his best characters of all time imo Sam and Leo were the 2 best in the film imo

I like him alot.

I didnt really have any problem with his role in those movies.

He looks strange. Can't put my finger on it. Hes not ugly per say he just looks strange. Like hes the sort of person that you wonder how they became an actor.

Oh he's def weird looking, with humongous fuckin ears that you gotta grow long hair to cover up.

But im glad for that. Who wants all actors to look like actors?

Foxx is capable of charismatic performances...when he does the stuff that got him in the door in the first place like in Any Given Sunday. When he grits his teeth and plays it all serious like Django or Law Abiding Citizen...it's passable but he doesn't excel at it.

I mean do you want actors to not look like actors? Like I get what you're trying to say and don't disagree with the concept but again just didn't like the casting. If the films had been good his casting would be my main complaint about them.

I mean,ya like who ya like. I feel like he's got an unconventional look that winds up working for him in the roles i've seen him in.

I would take Denzel as Django over Jamie

Denzel would have carried the ending too

People don't talk about this because the Star Wars sequels would have been awful regardless but Adam Driver was a horrible casting. Hes like the human version of sand.
He was a very good choice. Ugly, torn, insecure, powerless and impotent compared to his grandfather powerwise and to his father in spirit. He delivered that.

Jamie Foxx was horrible, Denzel would be better but still horrible, also way too old for that role.
Whole movie was horrible tho and nothing conpared to the OG Django.

He was literally the only good thing about those films.

The best argument was always: "Durr, he was no way near as badass as Darth Vader, durr." Yeah, that was the point, dumbass.

For me, he's the opposite......great casting but a crap script, Like Henry Cavill's superman.

OG Django hurts from the voice dub not being Franco Nero which is why I will only watch the Italian version.

I saw a fairly recent Tarantino interview where he mentioned a streaming show he has been working on.

He said 10 films.
(He never said he would never direct after that.)

Streaming would work well with his propensity for being a tad long-winded.
Plenty of time for establishing shots and pauses for effect.

Now hes saying hell never play in another Star Wars movie. Like who cares you ugly bastard. Theres no way Han and Leias kid would look like you. He has something in common with the director tho and thats probly how his ugly ass got the job. Same as the weirdo in the Flash.

Its IRONIC.

I figured people would understand that.

They built him up so much, but then he was just this high pitched nerd. That was the whole fuckin point.
I don't think so. He's too big for that irony to land well. And too small to be the bear jew.

I think he just wanted the part and probably promised to bulk up and underdelivered.

Nahhhh

Then it woulda just been Adam Sandler, and not the Bear Jew.

Thats going too far.

Adam Sandler can be pretty intimidating though and would have been good in the role. Punch Drunk Love is a good example of what an unhinged Sandler may look like given the proper role

He does the unhinged neurotic pyschopath well.
