What books are you reading?

I keep seeing this series brought up in book circles. Same people said the Bobiverse stuff was funny too. It wasn't... Have you read any, and what kind of humor is it? If you don't mind answering.
Never read any of the Bobiverse stuff (at least not to my knowledge). Hard to describe the humor really - pretty over the top. If I were to compare it to a movie I might say Airplane? or even something like The Hitman's Bodyguard.

Drug dealing llamas, redneck trolls, Krakarens, etc.

I do see a more serious underlying store arc that is forming with it too. It reminds me a bit of the Phule's Company books by Robert Lynn Asprin.

Thanks for answering, dude!

The Bobiverse is about a guy turned into a Von Neumann probe, and just keeps replicating himself, and each new one is different and tends to take on 20th-century characters like Homer Simpson and such. Basically, it is an 80/90's pop culture overload, like Ready Player One, which I didn't care for either.

I will try the old hot Carl though. One book won't hurt.

Currently reading The Testaments by Margaret Atwood.

I started it awhile back then fell off early on, but picked it back up and I'm loving it so far. Such simple stories but she makes it so interesting. And I really enjoy her writing style and vocabulary. Looking forward to reading more books by her after this.

'Carb the fuck up' by Harley 'Durianrider' Johnstone.
Lol is me

@Batjester I just order Back Blast in the Gray Man series. Book #5. I missed it when I ordered a few more and almost started book 6 before I noticed. I finally got the backstop on Kiev. It's been a fun series so far.

I plan to read a few other books on my stack before I jump back in though.

Nice, I'm glad you're liking them. I'm about half way through the latest one - Midnight Black. It's weird because I swear I've already read it even though it just came out.

That starts to happen in most series for me too after they get up in numbers in series. These books made me want to pick up a few old Robert Ludlum books to read. I was going to order the original Jason Bourne 3 book series, but picked The Osterman Weeked since I've never read that one.

dope
I am going to start the first law trilogy

current books I am cycling through
blood meridian
black company
the power of the dog

it's going to be an edgy summer
I really enjoyed all the books in the First Law universe. Best Served Cold, Red Country and Heros are really good books that are side stories, but a bunch of characters from the main books make appearances.

Work was busier than usual last night since I was teaching a new worker most of the shift. Didn't get past the first 2 chapters that I read in the parking lot before my shift started.

yea it seems like best served cold in particular gets most of the recognition. and I see that it's going to be the first to get a movie made from it

I did Heros as an audiobook. Not bad. It is a solid story around one battleground and Red County is an interesting take on a Western style Fantasy.
