What are you playing right now, and why?

Because it's a lot of fun. I only play with a friend so we level at the same rate and because I have other games that I focus more attention on.

VERY underated game. Mod community is amazing in this game, and you can alter every aspect of the game rather easily via mods. Some AWESOME classes, Synergies mod which is HUGE, and tons of other cool stuff. I go back to this game every year or so with a friend.

I'm currently hyped as fuck for Red Dead Redemption 2. CANNOT FUCKING WAIT.

Thought this was horseshit, or something you just threw out to be funny. Looked it up and am now so hyped I can't stand it. Hopefully the Xbone one will be cross platform with Windows 10 so I can play on PC :)

You and me both bro. I've got a PS4 if they are slow with the PC version (as Rockstar tend to be), but I'd love aPC version.

Red Dead Redemption is one if my all time favourite games. I literally couldn't be more excited or looking forward to a game more.

Trailer looks so goddamn beautiful, and I'm sure it'll have a good story, varied gameplay, and all the usual Rockstar goodness.

Civ 6

One of my favorite franchises.

Wish it was less 'cartoony'.. seems to be going more and more that way.

Civ 2 is still tops.

I don't frequent these particular forums much because most games I play don't have threads that stay on top too often, so I figured I would make a thread that almost anyone who frequents this sub forum can get behind.

My hopes are that this thread will allow everyone to share what they are currently playing and why that game is holding their interest, or not holding their interest well. This can be a thread where people come to just talk about a game they tried for a few hours and decided it was a complete bust, or a thread where people come back every day/week/month to let us know of their progress in said game.

Hopefully this will open some users up to talking more about games that have dying threads or have no threads for them at all. It's hard to keep a thread on the first page and in everyone's vision daily when only 2-3 members who play the game might frequent and miss it.

I will kick this off:

I am currently playing a closed alpha game called Fortnite, from the makers of Paragon (Epic Games).

There is a ton going on in this game, and not sure how much I can share because of the whole NDA thing, but here are some details about it.
  • PVE
  • Tower Defense (against hoards of zombie like mobs)
  • Solo/Multiplayer
  • TONS of RPG aspects
  • Lots of loot
So far I have put about 30-40 hours into this game. There is a TON of content already, and its only growing/changing for the better throughout the whole Alpha process. Free to sign up for Alpha (random picks to get in via email) or you can buy keys from site in spoiler below if you would like for like $6. Placing link in spoiler in case it violates something on this forum.

Any game that involves heavy RPG aspects and co-op reel me in. I have a HIGHLY addictive gaming personality when it comes to MMO's, so I steer a little clear of those and stick with online ARPG's and some co-op tower defense PVE games like Dungeon Defenders 1 & 2. Not a big fan of competitive PvP, because frankly I lost those fast twitch reflexes I had with video games when I was a kid and get obliterated now.

So Sherdog, what games are you currently playing and why?

Not much rotation for me these days. I used to be active WoW player, Hearthstone, Diablo, PoE, Warcraft 3, Minecraft, Civ 5 and other games. Last weekend I completed Mafia 3, few weeks ago Quantum Break and before that Deus Ex. I lost all interest for gaming since devs are catering to mainstream. I enjoyed really a lot Watch Dogs, so between now and PC release which is 28 November I have nothing to play. I got my desktop loaded with 50 icons of games, some of them not even touched and I dont have even the slightest desire to play it.

Yep it's a lot more about strategy then it is good aim. Although some characters require both especially Mcree who I never use.

I either use the samurai or the marine. I prefer the marine because he's just easiest to use, most familiar with his assault rifle, and he has the healing secondary move.

I just recently started using him a lot more as well as tracer. Soldier and him are great cause of their heals

Arkham series. Why? Because it's fun and a lot of hours. I'm stuck home recovering from surgery.

Destiny because I needed something to break up the NBA 2k17 sameiness I was starting to feel.

Fallout 4. Very reminiscent of Oblivion and Skyrim with the different guilds/factions you can join like the Railroad, Brotherhood of Steel and the Institute. Also, the graphics are amazing.

CS 1.6
CS + 1.6 = love

What kind of surgery did you have?

I spent the last two weeks playing Stellaris while recovering from orbital bone reconstruction. I couldn't see so well and get dizzy so I had to avoid games that had a lot of movement. A slow plodding strategy game was what I needed. I like the game and it has a ton of potential but I wish they had a bit more to do as it gets old after a while. Needs more depth for combat (wish you could choose things like fleet formation and tactics for the admirals to use) and needs more options for diplomacy. AI is kind of dumb. For example, a faction that hates me would refuse various trade deals but then ask me to help them in a war.

Labrum repair and some bone spurs taken off. Slept sitting in the corner of the couch the first three weeks and wife has to be at work by 0645 so, after the kids went to bed, I had a few hours to collect those Riddler trophies. Not my favorite part of Arkham City by a long shot.

Hope recovery goes well Sleep.

My internet has been down for 4 days (Comcast Business Account) and their ETA on the fix is "Sometime this week". Fuck.... Hopefully I get some free shit out of the deal though.

ZERO game sessions since Thursday night, and I am jonesing pretty bad. Need to kill, loot, level, upgrade....

Got gears 4 last night. Familiar yet fun. Haven't tried MP yet, but I have the feeling I'm going to get tossed

Just finished Popolocrois for PSP. Decent game, characters needed a little fleshing out and the story was all over the place but good battle mechanics and ok anime cut scenes. Its cute and fun.

Probably going to play Lunar and Loco Roco for psp next. The reason i'm playing psp games is that i dont have my consoles where i'm living/working right now, and the psp is awesome.

I'm switching between Overwatch and Black Desert online which I have been playing for a good 2 months or so already. Overwatch I didn't really expect that I would enjoy it as much as I do but being forced to play as a team really is the shit.

As for Black Desert I really like the combat mechanics of the game. It is also really grindy once you start gearing for end game or near end game gear but that is to be expected from a Korean MMO.

Battlefield 1. I was late to the party with BF4, wanted to get in at the ground level this time.
