Is Ryza 2 part of that DX trilogy upgrade? How are those games? Never played a single one of them.
Yea it is. They are pretty good JRPGs and I can see why the series has been around for so long. Ryza was my first entry into the series and I enjoyed it a lot. They aren't hard games and don't require to much out of you for a JRPG anyways. About 60 hours to get the plat in both games so I would say about 30-40 for just the main story.

The crafting system is what really makes the games. As you go through the world maps\dungeons you collect items and you use it to craft gear or items for quests. You also craft items that you use in battle like bombs and healing items. I wasn't sure if I would like these games when I first read about them but the crafting system seemed interesting and I'm glad I took a chance on the first game.

Have a few months off to relax and it's like -20 C right now so trying to get some games in. A couple weeks ago I grabbed Outer Worlds 2 off of gamepass pc. I went for a speech heavy build and it was largely unsatisfying. I thought the first planet was great, I tried to explore everything possible and enjoyed the side quests.Things kind of went down hill on the second planet. Completely losing out on a bunch of side quests for various reason, being a speech heavy build I was getting destroyed by the enemies and had to cheese them any chance I could, didn't enjoy the quests I could finish and the main story just never really picked up any steam.

Finally caught up to the antagonist and quickly realized the game was coming to an end rather quickly. So I ended up feeling pretty underwhelmed and didn't bother finishing it. I logged about 22 hours. Maybe I missed out, but I doubt it.

Yesterday I grabbed Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon on sale on PS5. After about 8 hours I'm kind of wishing I got it on my PC instead because the performance is pretty shit. I've done everything I can to better the performance but I probably average like 40 fps in the open world. Thankfully it's a pretty solid 60 fps in dungeons. The game itself is actually great so far. Heavily inspired by the Bethesda RPG model I think it does a great job for being only a AA game. I went with a cheesy mage build and it's definitely scratching that itch. Exploration feels rewarding, lots of wacky side quests, decent enemy variety and lots of loot. I'm hooked right now.

Yeah, I agree about Outer Worlds 2.

After many retries, I ran an Explosives/Engineering/Hack build. I'm ploughing through things now, but I've gotten so bored that I went off the beaten path and just massacred everyone, taking me out of the headspace for the game.

Everything seems to be just alright in this game, and I'm not a big fan of the side characters. Outer Worlds 1 started off far stronger, had better side characters, had Phineas Welles and Edgewater. I haven't really liked anyone in 2 like I did in 1. I also think that too much is locked off through skill checks in 2.

I'm tempted to get Fall of Avalon, but it's disappointing to hear about the performance on console. It seems to be par for course these days.

Juggling Talos Principle 2 & Granblue Fantasy Relink.

Both really good.

Finished Far Harbour in Fallout 4. Just gotta grab 2 more achievements for the completion then it's off to Nuka World

Going back to some ones I have beaten before for some easy gaming.

Far Cry 5 again atm. I totally understand long time fans lamenting the lack of verticality in this one, but I think the gameplay is still great, and the story and setting personally draws me in more than the others I’ve played(4/Primal) though I dug them all. Only dumb thing is there is a bit too much diversity for some bumfuck Montana. That’s very odd. Distracting, but nothing to really complain to much about.

Finally 100% Elden Ring today, getting the frenzy ending. Nothing more to add about ER that we all haven’t heard a million times. Just nice to see that 100 percent progress.

I did that earlier this year also and it was nice to get the plat. My first plat in any of the fromsoft games. I plan to get Shadow of the Erdtree eventually but that shit never seems to go on sell.

Hey I've been replaying FC5 as well. Had a great time with it, I agree you can't really mess with the setting. Probably my favourite overall FarCry setting after FC2.

I also played FC6 for the first time beforehand which makes FC5's AI feel a lot better, but it is still trivially easy for the most part. But that has been a complaint of mine since FC2 which was the last game in the series that felt challenging.

After this I'm gonna replay FC4/3/Blood Dragon as well

Juggling Talos Principle 2 & Granblue Fantasy Relink.

Both really good.

Just started Granblue yesterday only a couple of hours in, promising, combat is fun

Just uninstalled Outer Worlds 2 after massacring Aunties Choice for no reason.

6/10.

Gameplay is alright and the game looks and sounds good, but in comparison to the first, everything is just so boring.

I played the demo and the gameplay is fun. The only thing that bothered me is that game kind of looks fuzzy for some reason. I think the res is just to low or something for this game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

I just can't seem to get anywhere in this game. I think i'm tapping out after about 10 hours. I have yet to complete a significant main quest, or really anything of note, and can't even complete a few of the tutorials. Having to exit the game just to save constantly, or risk losing tons of progress is ridiculous and completely immersion breaking. I just keep getting arrested. Everything in this game is so tedious and just not fun. It's a shame because the world is great and the writing is too.

So EA is shutting down the servers for Anthem on January 12th which as an always online game will it make unplayable after that date. I’ve never played it but it’s in my PSN library, so I wonder if it was a free PS+ game at some point in the last five or so years. I hope that’s the case and I didn’t pay for it.

Anyway, I’m going to try and get in a few hours while I still can just so I’m not in a situation wondering what I may have missed out on. FOMO and all that I guess, amirite?

I thought they did that awhile ago

The flying mechanics at least were a lot fun that I remember. Hop in and enjoy some traversal, then peace out.

Finished Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon yesterday. Clocked in at 53 hours and I got the "Good" ending. The game is fantastic. The setting, open world and dungeons are all top notch. I was fully immersed. It's obviously heavily inspired by Bethesda open world games but it does enough to not feel like a cheap copy. Lots of secrets to uncover, lots of cool loot and tons of interesting side missions. 9/10 for me

It's my GOTY. Expedition 33 was cool, but largely forgettable for me.

Grabbed Kingdom Come 2 reluctantly on steam with the intention of trying it out for 2 hours and returning it but before I knew it I was 4 hours in and loving every minute of it. Shit, I spent probably 45 minutes alone just playing the dice game in the opening scene.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this game. I plan on buying it eventually.

I wonder if there's a lot of people who got Portals for Xmas, I got a waiting time for cloud streaming for the first time ever. It was only 5 minutes though

Funny you mention that. I got a 10 minute one just an hour ago but in reality it was like 3 minutes tops. First time I've seen that too. I really love mine, especially after that huge update that expands the cloud library. So many of my games I can play now without turning on my PS5. I wouldn't be surprised if I go 50/50 with the TV now. Basically just saving the TV for the bigger AAA games and using portal as an RPG console.
