I had played Balatro on my Xbox through Game Pass, but I bought it on my Switch and started over. I just had my best run ever, with a 10 million chip hand, and I'm still working on getting everything unlocked.

Just put together an absolutely disgusting combo unseeded that got me a 52 billion round....I'm still playing actually, hoping for a legendary joker very soon to keep this going

The game is addicting and obviously the more you unlock the more combinations you can pull. Game is great, definitely loving it.
Yep, I need to work on unlocking jokers on my Switch save. It's wild that you hadn't heard of Balatro before my post. Was my comment actually what got you to check it out?

Absolutely. I keep tabs on video games in spurts and this one must have slipped by. I have a hard time finding games to keep me engaged these days and this definitely scratches that itch

The Outer Worlds 2.

I went to Praetor early, just to screw around, maxed out Explosives and have Engineering at level sixteen.

Truth be told, I'm not as engaged with the story or the world's as I was with the first. It looks and plays fine, but I'm a bit bored of my build. I found that I've lost a lot of steam...

I stumbled upon the Mental Refreshment place hoping to get refreshed, ended up killing everyone for kicks and I may have played out of sync and ruined my playthrough...

I might just retry and play as a sniper instead. It's how I played the first one, and I may have enjoyed it a lot more because of it.

On ps5 - kingdom come 2, starwars rebels, cyberpunk
On xbx - destiny renegades, robocop, forza 5

Ninja Gaiden 4 (8/10)

Throwing this in the box with 2D sidescrollers, sports games, and Arpg's of genres that just aren't for me. I think it's a great game, but it's just too fast and intense. (It literally made my forearms hurt lol) I just don't have a desire to invest the time to "get gud". I got to chapter 4 on normal before I dropped it to "hero" and plowed through the rest of it. I still really enjoyed it as the combat is incredibly fun and there is an incredible amount of variety and combos you can do, but ultimately you just end up repeating your go-to's. The only thing I really thought was bad was the rail/flying/surfing stuff (ESPECIALLY the flying).

TLDR: I'm too old for this shit

I'm debating on getting KCD2 or Wuchang next. Both are around $50 on PSN right now.

Yeah, Zaz and Heretic saved me on Gaiden 4 by pointing out what you say. Love Hayabusa but not sure my head's in that space right now after work.

KCD2, BTW, is regularly on sale on PSN by 40-50% that I remember, so if you can hold before pulling trigger, do so. I have a feeling it could be a 2026 Plus offering too.

Just bought KCD2 lol. It's the saga bundle that comes with the first game as well so it seemed like a deal. It will not doubt be a PS+ January game now.

Bro, noooo, lol. Enjoy. I just have a feeling it's coming to Plus. I've almost bought a couple times myself because I like games with flowered prairie, forest, woodland immersion, especially in winter like now. 100 want to hear your thoughts after you've jumped in.

Ryza 2 - Beat it this past weekend and got the plat. The game actually got better as I went on and forced me to grind a bit and craft new armor\weapons. It ended very suddenly though. I beat the last boss and I was positive there was going to be like one more dungeon but nope it was just over. So I finished up the remaining trophies and got the plat. Didn't have to craft all the items which was nice since I didn't keep up with my crafting like I did in the first game.

Red Dead Redemption - I was going to play Y's 9 next but Red Dead came out on PS+ and I couldn't resist trying it out. I started this game years ago just after beating GTA 4. The issue was I just beat GTA 4 and this game played exactly like it except in a western setting. So I quickly put it down not even doing 1 mission. Started it up this weekend and so far I'm enjoying it. I tried RDR2 a couple years ago but didn't like it and quit at like chapter 3.

So far this one seems a lot more interesting to me as far as the plot goes and I'm just enjoying riding around doing my missions. Looks pretty good at times for a 360 game. Working on the plat as I play but no guarantee I'll end up getting it.

No game has made me feel like I was in a forest the way KCD2 has done. There's one quest line that involves hunting down poachers through a forest. When I first got this quest I sort of sighed because it's very vague and just gives you an area to search. As I was doing it though I just enjoyed being in the woods so much that I really liked the quest.

Have a few months off to relax and it's like -20 C right now so trying to get some games in. A couple weeks ago I grabbed Outer Worlds 2 off of gamepass pc. I went for a speech heavy build and it was largely unsatisfying. I thought the first planet was great, I tried to explore everything possible and enjoyed the side quests.Things kind of went down hill on the second planet. Completely losing out on a bunch of side quests for various reason, being a speech heavy build I was getting destroyed by the enemies and had to cheese them any chance I could, didn't enjoy the quests I could finish and the main story just never really picked up any steam.

Finally caught up to the antagonist and quickly realized the game was coming to an end rather quickly. So I ended up feeling pretty underwhelmed and didn't bother finishing it. I logged about 22 hours. Maybe I missed out, but I doubt it.

Yesterday I grabbed Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon on sale on PS5. After about 8 hours I'm kind of wishing I got it on my PC instead because the performance is pretty shit. I've done everything I can to better the performance but I probably average like 40 fps in the open world. Thankfully it's a pretty solid 60 fps in dungeons. The game itself is actually great so far. Heavily inspired by the Bethesda RPG model I think it does a great job for being only a AA game. I went with a cheesy mage build and it's definitely scratching that itch. Exploration feels rewarding, lots of wacky side quests, decent enemy variety and lots of loot. I'm hooked right now.

I picked up the most recent remaster release of Blood, “Refreshed Supply” for my PS5. It’s funny, I have sort of a Mandela effect thing with Blood in that I don’t have any memory of it from the 1990s at all, other than vague recollections of the name and the box art, and that’s it. It’s kind of strange, because in the 1990s I was all in on FPS games and had so many of the most popular ones:

-Doom and Doom II
-Wolfenstein 3D
-Rise of the Triad
-Heretic
-Hexen
-Star Wars Dark Forces
-Quake 1 - 3
-Duke Nukem 3D
-Shadow Warrior
-Unreal and Unreal Tournament
-Star Wars Jedi Knight
-Half-Life

But no Blood. Yet lots of “boomer shooter” YouTubers and streamers talk about Blood as being part of this “holy trinity” of Build Engine games along with Duke 3D and Shadow Warrior which I do not remember at all. I remember kids at school playing Redneck Rampage, but I literally don’t remember anyone playing Blood or talking about Blood back when I was in junior high when it would have come out. I remember most people were playing Quake or Jedi Knight around that time, but no one talking Blood.

Like I said, I consider myself a 90s fps aficionado and yet I have this major gap in my resume when it comes to Blood, but a major gap in my memory too. That’s why it’s a Mandela Effect moment for me, I feel like I come from a parallel universe where Blood never even existed in the 90s.

I never played Blood back in the day, although I'd read about it in magazines and thought it looked pretty cool with some great gimmick weapons. Rise of the Triad was another that I never played in the 90's but thought looked pretty cool based on reviews. I played them both in the last couple of years but wasn't really keen on them tbh. Rise of the Triad in particular I thought sucked. I probably would have loved them when I was a kid though.

Rise of the Triad was such a wacky fever dream of a game back in the day. Some fun gimmicks like over the top gibs and things like dog mode, but so weird and ugly at times. The jump pads, combined with all the traps like spinning blades and moving lava walls almost makes it feel like a platformer disguised as an FPS. A truly bizarre, one of a kind game.

Redneck Rampage...lol, haven't heard that one in ages. Good times and memories!

Is Ryza 2 part of that DX trilogy upgrade? How are those games? Never played a single one of them.

Tomb Raider remaster - Aint played these games since they first came out, and while i love the atmosphere and setting, these controls are so fuckin bad. Your supposed to be controlling a nimble athletic acrobat with big titties but she moves and responds like a T800 that weighs 1000 lbs. The camera is total ass. You can control it, and it still wont let you see what you want to see alot of the time.

They really just changed the textures, rather than update the actual graphics. Despite this, the game does look pretty great with the new coat of paint for the most part. Locales look great, Lara looks great, but the enemies look like complete shit like they did back then. I dont know why the fuck they couldnt have updated them a bit.

Ill keep messin with it, but the controls make the game 1000 times slower than it aught to be.
