Currently playing Alan Wake 2 after doing a Remedy binge of Alan Wake remake, Quantum Break, Control and now AW2.

AW2 is basically Resident Evil done better IMHO

Feel the same way about games right now and feeling touch of gaming ennui. Been bouncing around and haven't found anything to hook me.

I was locked in on an emulated EverQuest server and having a blast. They got sued and shut down and I was devastated. Nothing has really been able to pull me out of the funk since and have kind of bounced around.

Started playing Borderlands 4 and it just felt "meh". Balders Gate 3 was fun for a bit, but it was to heavy RPG coming off of EQ, so had to take a break. I did have some fun with the Dead Rising remaster, but there was a lot of nostalgia built in. Just finished Dead Rising 4 and super butt hurt. I finished what I thought was the 2nd to last case and the game ended abruptly. I thought I'd have to beat the mission in a special way to unlock the true ending. Looked it up and the true ending is part of a DLC. It was just on sale for like $1 and didn't pick it up. Read it's really short so not going to pay full price.

Think I'm ready to tackle the rest of BL3 now though.
I've been doing the same thing. I started with doing a replay of Control bounced off that after about 2 hours, started Horizon DLC made it about halfway and just dropped it for Fate Samurai. Dropped that and now I'm not sure what to do. Going to give that Prince of Persia metroidvania game a chance tonight and see if that grabs me.

I've never played TLoU II and have it installed courtesy of Plus, so will try that this week in my post-Yotei search for a game here.
Wow had no idea you never played TLOU2. Amazing game that I want to go back and platinum eventually.

Loved AW2. Wasn't a fan of the DLC though. Although it's hard for me to ever like DLC.

Tried the Prince of Persia metroidvania game. It was alright but I wasn't really liking it that much. Also tried Unicorn Overlord. Seems like a cool idea but once I realized combat didn't involve me at all basically I was out.

Tried Sand Land and so far this one is sticking with me. Melee combat is pretty basic but I heard tank combat is fun. So I'll see. So far the animation is great and the story and characters seem interesting.

Well, I'm about 40% of the way through Red Dead Redemption 2. I'm a sucker for buying games on discount well after release and this one is no exception.

I really didn't care for the first RDR, so my expectation wasn't too high despite all the accolades the game has garnered.

Well, I don't picture much changing because the game is so repetitive, but yeah, I don't care for this game.

I'm on a 4080 playing in 4K and the world is beautiful. Lot of effort made, and well, honestly, the buck pretty much stops there for me.

The story is boring -- bunch of missions with different people with no cohesion or flow. The combat is mediocre and no real strategy just dead eye/head shot rinse and repeat, a lot of boring life simulation type stuff to do like fishing. Controls are so-so. Weapon variety isn't very good, most weapons feel the exact same. All the enemies feel the exact same. The first fighting is clunky crap. The hunting isn't fun, nor is looking to fill the massive bestiary, I just don't care enough.

The horse riding is too tedious. The conversations during them that are supposed to hold your interest just don't.

If 5/10 is average this is a 6 / 10 for me, driven by the sheer beauty of the world. I truly have little else positive to say. Maybe just Western settings aren't my jam, but I don't think I can understand the mass acclaim for the game. It's not horrible or anything, but I honestly prefer Far Cry and even Assassin's Creed games to this.

Holy shit, thanks, I totally forgot I bought this game when it was on sale since it's on the Epic Games app which I hardly ever boot up. I need to remember to play it some time.

I would suggest playing AW1 and then Control before you do AW2. It's basically all one big story. I enjoyed Quantum Break but it is not really in the same universe...although it loosely is. Apparently there is some licensing issues there

Thanks, I've played Control but not Alan Wake. Maybe if it goes on sale for Black Friday. I did see there's a remastered version.

I played the original on the 360 years ago. I bought the remastered version for like 3 bucks when it was on sale to replay. If you have never played the original then 2 wont make sense. Its a great game. Think Twin Peaks meets Silent Hill and Resident Evil. AW2 is even more like Resident Evil 1-3. Resource management, great atmosphere, etc.

Blasphemous 2

Picked it up on the Black Friday sale. Just starting out, but so far so good. Hopefully it can wash the "Silksong" stank out of my mouth, which seemed to be designed to annoy more than challenge. This feels about right. The original had a bit of a rep for being extremely difficult, but past the first few zones where you could mess up the order in which to tackle them and end up getting raped, I thought it was rather reasonable, and nothing too crazy. This feels about the same.

The level design is really good, and I can already tell they made a big effort in connecting the world, as there are loads of clever and seamless shortcuts strewn about. Combat is a lot more varied, given that this leaned into a true RPG-build system, with a few different weapons and all sorts of buffs and powers that can drastically change how you play. I can see the great potential for experimentation here.

One change they made that I don't like, though, is the art style in the cutscenes. I thought the rough 16-bit "cinematic" style worked way better, than this very clean look. They're fine, but they don't jive with the overall look of the game. In the original, because they were so low-fi, the cinematics felt like a natural extension of the in game engine. These ones feel completely separated. Still not a fan of manual map markers either, as you always have to be mindful in marking key spots on the map, otherwise you might be pulling your hair out later trying to find some key areas. Minor complaints overall, though.

This seems like it's gonna be a fine journey.

Outer Worlds 2, but I've had plenty of restarts because for some dumb reason, I can only max three out of fifteen or so skills.

I have a character with Engineering, Lockpick and Hack skills, but it doesn't feel right.

I may make a Speech, Leadership, Observation build and RP as a detective...

Finished the Last of Us’ ps5 remasters. Probably the 5th time for the original and 2nd for the sequel. Goofy shit from the 2nd aside, and I just love the story overall. Ellie is amazing imo, and I’ll fight until death defending Ellie. What a beautifully tragic character.

About 2.5 hours into Silent Hill 2 remake. Loving it so far. Was very worried at the start with the frame drops even in performance mode, but it is much more stable in town. It still feels otherworldly like the OG, and glad they are sticking with bad voice acting. It is really bringing back the feels I had as a young lad with it. Sound through the head phones is top-notch. If it stays solid like it has been, I doubt I’ll have more negatives than that.

Yeah, it's one of them true skill check RPG systems, where you can't be the jack of all trades. I think you were right to go with your first three choices, though, since there are so many locked/broken doors, and computers to hack. I've got those pretty high, mixed with some mid medical, speech and gun skills, and haven't run into too many issues. No matter what, though, you're always gonna feel a bit limited and locked out of certain options. It's just the way it is.

I'm playing the first Last of Us (Steam) and having a great time. I'm only like 6 hours in but I'm really impressed with it on every level, and the writing/character work is top notch for sure. Will definitely check out the 2nd one whenever it comes out on PC.

Also playing Far Cry Primal. I'm a big fan of the FarCry series but I skipped Primal because the prehistoric gimmick didn't appeal to me. But I'm having a blast tbh, it's a very well realized FC game with satisfying, very chaotic combat. I love how you have to grow and develop your tribe

I also want to start Dying Light 2. I wasn't a huge fan of the first one but it was good enough that I'm intrigued by a follow up and seeing if it improves

Added. Played in 22, and got to the north area. I remember it vaguely. Apparently it isn’t near the end or anything, but definitely put in some hours and enjoyed it, though not as much as 5. My first FC

Awesome to hear you enjoying it too. The dialogue is absolutely brilliant, especially considering it is a video game. I hope the sequel gets a pc release soon, as I can’t imagine you enjoying it now and not wanting to see where it leads.

Got near the end of Primal and stopped for some reason. Very awesome game. My second FC game, after 5, so I didn’t get a chance to get burned out by the formula they use. That seems to be a common complaint for newer FC games. It felt immersive how they spoke in whatever made up language they were using. I would choose less random animals springing out at me though.

Can DL2 be played as a standalone? Haven’t tried the first.

My first three skills are functional, but also kind of boring.

Then again, I'll restart over as something else and start bumping into things that will make me want to restart yet again.

I'd rather just hold off, get a PC and use a code to max myself out. Spending so much when I have an XBox is a hard sell though.

I had the same issue with time first game, but stuck with a sniper build in the end. Combat was a lot of fun.

Well I presume so since story wasn't exactly a huge selling point of the original Dying Light. DL has a lot of great ideas it's just you feel overpowered in some respects (Like Parkour and movement is great), but then weapon degradation and things like like make you feel underpowered in others (Actually killing zombies becomes a chore). I may just do a 100% Evil run and use cheat engine to remove mechanics that annoyed me in the first game

i bought the witcher 3 next gen edition some time last year but just like many other games i forgot that i bought it and now i want to have a go at it. i loved that game in its original but i never did have a go at NG+

so i installed a bunch of mods and i'm having a go on death march right from the get go and holy hell, the griffin in the starting zone was so much easier that that noonwraith from the well. i made the griffin my bitch first go but holy hell i died more times to that noonwraith thing than i died entirely throughout my 4'th journey in elden ring. but i never used any bombs or oils, i just whacked the thing to death with my sword while using the quen sign to defend me from a hit. it was actually rather hard and i got some satisfaction out of it. i've never been much into alchemy and shit, but yeah it was a bitch to bring down just fighting it in straight combat.
