What’s your opinion on Canelo?

He's really good. So good that people will say he is ducking everyone, even though he clearly has fought much better compitition than anyone else in his era
Canelo is a great fighter and a future hall of famer. Nobody has said that he's ducking everyone. Whether you want to hear it or not it's already been shown that he is avoiding one fighter in particular. If he wants to be considered the best fighter of his generation then he needs to cement it by beating Benavidez.

No, he hasn't beaten "much better" competition than Inoue & Usyk. That's hyperbole. Canelo has a deeper resume because he's been around longer. He turned pro 19 years ago. If he beats his aforementioned rival at SMW that would be a prime signature win which his resume currently lacks.

As already stated several times in this thread, Canelo became afraid of Benavidez AFTER he fought Bivol. Does it make sense now?

Just want to remind you that.

Benevidez has about 6 inches of height, 7 inches of reach and comes in at at 195/200 on fight night.

He wasn't. Golovkin was already 36 or 37 years old and had shown slippage in back-to-back fights against Brook & Jacobs. That's why Canelo took the fight in the first place. Secondly, Golovkin has no signature wins of his own. What he does have is a lot of middleweight title defenses against mostly mediocre opposition.

How does any of that prove Canelo isn’t ducking Benavidez? Are you just typing random words?

What's your point? Usyk just overcame all of those physical advantages a week ago and he's past prime in his late 30s.

Edit. Canelo is only giving up 4 inches of reach and 6½ inches in height to Benavidez. He gave up even more to Callum Smith.

A size difference is much easier to overcome at HW

Except there is no cap at heavyweight. Fighters don't have to cut meaning they retain all of their strength. They can come in as big as they like. Fury had about 40 lbs on Usyk. Benavidez doesn't have that much on Canelo even when we adjust for body weight percentage. For it to be comparable Benavidez would need to have 30 lbs on Canelo. He doesn't. Benavidez rehydrates into the 190s on fight night. Canelo is probably somewhere in the mid-to-upper 170s. Possibly even 180s.

What Usyk did was incredible, but he’s 6-3 223. Heavyweight is a little different. Once you start getting over 200 lbs everyone can hurt everyone. It’s why we really haven’t seen a 400 lb boxer , there’s diminishing returns.

Lighter weight classes are different

Benevidez definitely has 20-25 lbs on Canelo. And the height disparty is much bigger than Usyk and fury was.

Fury is 6-7 and Usyk is 6-3.

Canelo is 5-7 and David is 6-2

Size is size. The lighter weight classes have an upper limit. So even the weight bullies in these divisions have to drain themselves to make weight. They may blow up when rehydrating but the initial cut will weaken them to a degree. Heavyweight doesn't have this since none of them cut. Meaning an enormous heavyweight gets to retain all of their strength. Their hydration level isn't affected.

No. Benavidez only has about 15-20 lbs on him. Canelo isn't being forced to do anything that the others haven't already done.

I don’t disagree with that. But I am stating as many boxers have said ,anyone Over 200 lbs can hurt any man in the division. The human head can only take so much, where as when you see lighter guys move up their power doesn’t carry the same

Canelo had been hydrating to 178-179 benevidez is rehydrating to 200 lbs. when he’s not in camp he’s 225

But we know that Canelo has the power to hurt these bigger men. He's done it. Callum Smith is just as big if not bigger than Benavidez. He's the size of a cruiserweight. On fight night Benavidez isn't weighing in at 168 and then putting on 30+ lbs. About 25 lbs is the most you'll see which would put him in the lower 190s. Not 200+ lbs.

Why not? In the ufc you would see Thiago alves cut from 200 lbs down to 170 with the help of ivs. Theres no usada in boxing are ivs even banned?

Canelo is a certified ATG that will go down as one of the greats of this era. I think he has case to crack maybe top 10 ATG when he hangs them up. He has a great record.

I think Benavidez is probably just to big and Canelo is not as formidable as he once was albeit still a great fighter. I think he may be able to beat Benavidez at 168 but not 175. I could see a catchweight. Would be the icing on the cake if did a number on Benavidez.
