International West Bank thread

Not so much cheering it on as not giving a shit. When the IDF start killing people I personally care about, then I'll have a problem with them. Until then, I'm #TeamChosenPeople.

not so much not giving a shit as throwing out weird and inapposite analogies like 'when it rains people get wet' which seem to suggest that the people on the West Bank have in some way perpetuated the Israeli 'settlements' and the violence of the 'settlers', when in fact the 'settlers' actions are rooted in a deeply violent nationalism that posits territorial expansion and violence against Palestinians and other non-Jews as a teleology.

Dude, Mr Punctuation is your friend. Learn to post in sentences rather than a single absurd paragraph.

I mean, I still won't care about your point of view, but at least I'll bother to read it. ;)

Likud ministers urge Netanyahu to annex West Bank by the end of the month

Ahead of PM’s trip to Washington and the Knesset’s summer break, senior politicians suggest it is ‘a propitious time to move forward’ with controversial move

By ToI Staff 2 Jul 2025, 11:03 pm

Senior lawmakers and ministers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party launched a push on Wednesday urging the premier to annex the West Bank before the end of the Knesset’s summer session on July 27, claiming that he must ride the “historic achievements” of the war against Iran.

In a letter signed by 15 Likud ministers currently in government as well as Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, the lawmakers wrote that “after the State of Israel’s historic achievements in the face of Iran’s axis of evil and its sympathizers, the task must be completed and the existential threat from within must be eliminated, to prevent another massacre in the heart of the country.”

The politicians added that “the strategic partnership, backing and support of the US and President Donald Trump have made it a propitious time to move forward with it now, and ensure Israel’s security for generations.”

Israel captured the West Bank from Jordan in 1967 during the Six Day War, but has never formally annexed it. Israel began moving toward annexation in 2020 as part of a wider so-called peace plan released by Trump during his previous term, but ultimately dropped the idea in exchange for normalization with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Wednesday’s letter was met with praise from the far-right Religious Zionism party chair, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is also a minister within the Defense Ministry for matters related to the West Bank. He said that as soon as the prime minister “gives the order,” he will be ready to implement Israeli sovereignty over the territory “immediately.”

Netanyahu is slated to depart next week for Washington and meet with Trump in the White House on Monday, with the recent 12-day war with Iran and the US president’s efforts to forge a ceasefire in Gaza expected to be high on the agenda of discussions.

Harassing and ruining the lives of Bedouins will undoubtedly make Israel safer.

Another brilliant move by the non-psychopaths totally worthy of support.

It's not a really popular channel tbh. France 24 is a public channel that focuses on investigations but it's far down in the channel selection, as the number suggests. The more popular news channels like Cnews and BFMTV are more public israeli channels than french ones.

Those also don't have an English version, contrary to France 24 where real reporters work.

West Bank: Jewish settlers attack Taibeh residents

The three parish priests of the Latin, Greek Orthodox, and Melkite churches denounce repeated violence against Christian residents and their property in the West Bank. The priests call on the international and ecclesial community to send field missions to document the damage and the worsening situation.

By Roberto Cetera

Violence by Jewish settlers in Palestine has now also struck the residents of Taibeh, the only entirely Christian Palestinian village. Taibeh is the ancient Ephraim, the location mentioned in the Gospel of John where Jesus took refuge after the resurrection of Lazarus (Jn 11:54), and where the Christian community has extremely ancient roots. The village is home to three churches—Latin, Greek Orthodox, and Melkite—whose pastors, Fathers Bashar Fawadleh, Jack Nobel Abed, and Daoud Khoury, issued an appeal last night calling on Israeli authorities to prevent further settler violence, which so far has largely occurred in the presence of passive Israeli soldiers.

The attack on Taibeh

Yesterday, a group of Jewish settlers set fires near the Byzantine Christian cemetery and at the Church of Al-Khader (St. George), dating back to the 5th century and one of the oldest and most venerated places of worship for Christians in Palestine. These arson attacks follow a series of violent acts against the town’s Christian residents, which have been escalating in recent weeks. The settlers have also damaged olive groves—Taibeh’s primary source of income—and are preventing farmers from accessing and working their land.

Appeal to the International Community

The eastern part of the town, the three priests lament, "has become an open target for illegal Jewish settlement outposts that are quietly expanding under the protection of the Israeli army." The priests are calling on the international and Church communities to send missions to the area to document the damages and the progressive deterioration of the situation.

I mean we all know it’s happening in the West Bank though where Israel allows settlers to steal homes and now they’re out there stealing sheep that these people rely on for their livelihood. It seems that it’s true that the Israeli government is not stepping in to rectify the situation. What do you want these people to do when they are victimized by the settlers? They do the right thing and report it, Israel does nothing. Like seriously, what is your recommendation to them when their property is illegally taken and the government won’t help them get it back?

i actually think you need to keep saying things like this. you are doing more for the pro-palestine posters than we could ever ask for.
