Very impressive first round and then his gas tank was empty. Overall though, a win over Usman is very impressive.

Not really. His 1'st round was very dominant. Great takedown & top control.

But 2'd & 3'd rounds were kinda bad. Usman looked bit better on his feet standing up and Khamzat looked kinda sloppy & gassed.

Yeah at this point hes not worthy of the hype he gained.

If he doesnt finish Strickland in first 2 rounds hes gonna get pieced up.

I was impressed. That's one of the best WW's of all time he fought while the man is still not far removed from his prime. Outwrestling and outgrappling him like that is no easy feat. Usman has some of the best TDD in the history of the entire sport.

Gilbert already showed he’s beatable, this proved it even more

Holy shit, you're saying an MMA fighter is actually capable of losing a fight? Ancient wisdom that was probably burned in the library of books in Baghdad when the Mongols sacked the city.

shades of zabit

its weird how he controlled usman and sat on his back for the 1st round. then looked gassed in the second. but he beat usman in his 7th ufc fight which is very impressive.

yes, again he is not super well-rounded but has a tremendous dimension to his game. I would love to see that Ikram rematch or a fight with Shara Bullet down the road.

1st and 3rd, yes. 2nd, not so much.

People should stop expecting him to walk through every opponent like he did the guys ranked 15-50.

It shows you how high the expectations are for him. People thought he would walk through Usman?? has anyone in the sport ever walked through Usman??
Yeah, Usman is still very, very good. Usman's gas tank looked fine, unlike some other fighters we've seen take short notice fights, so I also think he was in pretty good shape.

2 weeks or not that is Usman in there.

I though he showed maturity, and limited his risk for what is a guaranteed title fight.

he fought stupid against burns.

So I’m impressed that he is evolving which he has to do against the top guys.

I mean usman was the title holder at one time. And khamzat defeated him...

Much younger, short notice, yet it was a close fight outside of the first round. Extremely likely that he would have lost if more rounds.

Not impressed, but we already knew after his fight against Burns, i mean outside of his fanboys.

Yes. I think the narrative that Usman is done was overblown.

I would be heavily disappointed if I were one of his zealots that think he's an unbeatable monster, but he isn't.

Hes had 2 fights against elite competition, struggled badly in both. He's great, he just isn't what people thought he was.

It was pretty underwhelming considering Usman had like 10 days notice and Khamzat looked in worse shape than Usman and got lit up on the feet. Giving him a title shot for that performance over DDP who ran through Whittaker is a joke.
