Jones didn't look as good as when he was prime. Stipe looked horrible. Both due to age. It would have been fun to watch them fight 5 years ago.

Jones' fights always appear boring, even when he's dominating. The only thing to look forward to in a Jones fight is the possibility of someone finally knocking his head off.

Pretty impressive how everyone that's about to fight Jon is gonna beat the brakes off him, but turn out to either be too old or never that good in the first place come fight night.
So no you don’t have an answer as to whether Jon loses on the feet or on the ground.

Cool. Same as the last 16 years

He's only scared of him in yall heads. The dude is literally a psychopath. I hope it happens and when Bones wipes his ass with him yall gon be on here saying Tom wasnt ready.
Big Facts. When Jones beats Tom they will come up with many reasons to discredit his win.

These way these shertards hate on Jones is baffling.

I dont think people quite realize why Jones is so good. His haters just say stuff like "Tall. Long reach". It's that Jones is just good at everything and can switch between it all at will. Not just striking to wrestling, but everything. He's super dynamic. He might lack KO power, but when you're fighting him you worry about the takedown. And also the punch. And the kicks. Also, the elbows. And all this other shit that he's constantly throwing at you.

I think one of the reason the Diaz brothers could beat up better strikers was because they had accuracy and could constantly press the attack, which makes a realy difficult combo to deal with. Even if the strikes arent super heavy, theyre constantly just putting their fists up in your face. MacGregor said something similar about Nate, how he was just "always in my face". Thats a really difficult thing to deal with, and in the case of Jones it's exponentially more difficult because he has so many more weapons than just his fists, and a dominant wrestling game to top it off, and can strike a lot more than your face.

All of this would be hard to deal with, but then you have a guy with one of the best camps and one of the best fight IQs the sport has ever seen.

Theres been stages of evolution in MMA. First it was grapping beat everything. Then it became wrestlers with sub defense were super dominant. Then it became a mixture of both would usually prevail. Over time it got to the point where the best fighters were the ones that might not be best on the feet or on the ground, but they could still pressure you enough with the "weaker" aspect of their game to make you guess what theyre going to throw out you. That's how "worse" strikers end up beating better strikers on the feet. Because the "better" striker has to devote so much effort to keeping the fight on the feet.

Jones is the new breed where he can slip between everything effortlessly. GSP was sort of the prototype of this, but Jones is more dynamic, even if he's not as perfect with his technique. His style is unique and when you think he's going to do one thing, there's actually a dozen other things he can do just as well. That's not really something that's easy to plan for. So just like how Nick or Nate Diaz can overwhelm a better striker on the feet, Jones can overwhelm someone who's "better" at one specific discipline, or even more than one, because he threatens them with more weapons than they threaten him with.

Even given how he's getting older, it's hard to bet against him. He'll probably lose at some point, but only because nobody beats time.

I can't believe anyone would be impressed by this.

it's easy to dominate against a guy that isn't even in the top 10 anymore. Stipe had no business being anywhere near a title shot. 42 year old Stipe is quite different from 36 year old Stipe.

He was very much impressive. He dominated the whole fight. His worst round was the 2nd and even then, he won convincingly.

I like Stipe but after seeing that result I don’t see why Jon Jones couldn’t do the same if the fight happened 5 years earlier.
Jones is just a great fighter and stylistically will always give Stipe problems.
It was impressive but I’d be more impressed if he did that to Aspinall .

If you know what you're watching you were impressed. Yes Stipe is past his prime but so is Bones and he's coming off an injury. Literally the most skilled and vicious fighter I ever seen. He's unbeatable.
Easy to look good if your opponent isn't there and cant pull the trigger, cant generate force . Can't do anything.

Although Stipe looked shot and slow. Jones looked great, amazing in fact, I hope he fights Aspinall next and be a lot more competitive fight.

Yes. He toyed with Stipe. Jones is very special that's for sure.

No. He should have finished him in the first. A slow and old Stipe managed to tag him a few times. Imagine what a fast and powerful Aspinall does. Aspinall by TKO within 2

He fought someone who clearly was too old and didn't belong in there with him. A waste of a fight.
Tom would have finished Stipe in the 1st round by KO. Jon could only finish him with a body shot. No chance of KOing from a strike to the dome.

Jones isn't that fast but when we're looking at heavyweights he's still a lot faster than a lot of people Stipe has fought which makes Stipe look extra slow when fighting Jones.
