I understand you wanted to get all of these things off about age difference but can you objectively discuss JONES PERFORMANCE. Thank you home skillet
If Jon Jones performed well against a watermelon head on a target dummy, do you think we should be discussing his performance, or the fact that he fought an inanimate object? Yes that is a serious question (and potential a condemnation of your intelligence).

Nope. Anyone on this forum can beat up a punching bag.

Well... he was fighting a old rusty Stipe who just went in there to get his final official retirement check.

So let me get this correct. Stipe looked slow and old, right? Jones looked great, right? So it took the heavyweight champ 3 rds to get rid of a slow and old fighter - and that means he looked great?
It don't really bother me that he took that long, both guys were on long layoffs. It just bothered me that stipe was basically a practice bag for whatever Jones wanted to do. You could tell if Stipe really took it to him we'd have had an actual fight on our hands.

He looked old, but had much better power.

Still should retire.

Yes we would be discussing Jon Jones technique on how he performed against said target because that’s what we tuned in to watch and that’s what the fuck occurred and homie made a thread to duscuss. He didn’t make a damn talk about how fucking old tge target was thread. You make no sense. You hate the man so bad you can’t objectively discuss HIS PERFORMANCE. You stink

I'm not saying Jon can't beat Aspinall. He clearly has a chance to beat him.

The problem is that everyone knows Aspinall is a tougher fight than Stipe, and yet Jon was ducking Aspinall in favor of fighting Stipe. And it will look even worse if Jon ducks Aspinall for the next 12 months to fight anyone else.

Jon has a decision to make: Defend against Aspinall, or retire and vacate. The longer he takes to make that decision, the worse it looks on him.
There was no ducking that took place.. not sure why people keep saying this.

The stipe fight was booked long before Tom even came into the picture. They both trained for a full camp, Jones got injured 2 weeks out and they had to postpone it.

There was never any discussion or negotistion to fight Tom, because the UFC would never throw a legend like Stipe out of what was likely his final fight for reasons beyond his control, especially after he already had a full camp for it and waited for a year.

People calling it ducking aren't using their rational minds.

If Jones decided to fight Alex now instead of Tom, then they're free to call it a duck and it would at least have some logical grounds.

But Stipe was always something they had to get out of the way first before anything else could even be discussed.

That being said, if Jones doesn't fight Tom in favor of Alex, because it's a bigger fight, does more numbers, is with a much more proven opponent with a deeper resume and set of accolades to be gained, which more fans want to see

Is that a duck because he's scared Tom will beat him?

Or is it business

People have been making it about skill. Jones is scared he's gonna lose.

And don't seem to grasp that there are other elements to consider. On the plus side, all this Tom drama actually gained him a lot more popularity, which makes him more intriguing as a potential opponent

Prior to that shift in public perception, I doubt Jones would've even considered it.

I never said he was lightning fast. Can you not see a difference between prime Stipe and the old man tonight?
Both would lose to Jones…we can agree on that. Right?

A duck is a duck. The reason is irrelevant.

Jones looked good against 42 years old Stipe. A guy who was the perfect target (static, hesitant, moving in slow-mo) and who gave him multiple opportunities to attack. Stipe's only quality today is durability.

Another thing, Jones, since his fight with Shogun, has consistently shown the stamina to last five rounds without any problems. Before that, he used to get tired after just two rounds even though he was younger

Jon fought smart. His fight IQ was on point.

As much as I dislike his USADA and out of the octagon antics, I'd say he'll beat Tom down if Tom isn't error proof and dictating the fight.
People are still hoping Jones gets out struck or taken down as if either have happened yet.

He should retire on top, big that’s not an endorsement of Tom
