Weili humiliating Suarez is what Dagi haters pretended Merab v Umar was

If you take Merab’s showmanship out and score only the appreciable actions, this was a much closer fight than many have made it out to be. However, there were many people salivating at the thought of one these guys losing for years so they’re not going to concede much during their victory lap. I thought Merab won without much controversy, but it was by a small margin.

it was a small but definitive margin. rds 1-3 were close, rds 4 and 5 Merab literally did whatever he wanted. that's why some people say he dominated because had the fight gone on any longer he'd have likely finished Umar.

I don't think either Tatiana nor Umar need to feel humiliated. Unless that's the feeling that pushes them to improve. If they feel humiliated it's because they very have high standards. After what Merab did to Yan and to a lesser extent Cejudo and O'Malley, that close fight is nothing humiliating.
Merab's victory was not "narrow" though. It was quite clear he won the last 2.5 rounds and had taken over the fight - the tide had totally changed. It's narrow on the scorecards, but not as a fight.

Tatiana lost a lot of her career to injuries. She had bad luck on that front, but still got to a title shot. If she had fought for the belt in in 2020 (when Weili was great, but not as great as she is now), maybe she'd have fared better. Of course she'll be disappointed, but she fought hard the whole way through.

GTFO with "humiliation". Who the fuck are you <36>

Suarez was the favorite and got humiliated. Take notes fellas, THAT is what a humiliation looks like. Not Merab eeking out a decision in the last 2 mins of a very close fight and clowning around to the crowd in a narrow victory.
people also conveniently ignoring the fact that merab is of the same race as the dagis and chechens

Umar is clearly a top contender and will hold the belt soon, same can't be said for Rountree Jr.
I think Rountree is clearly a top contender as well. If hill can be a champion, under the same circumstances rountree jr could be too.

I 100% think it's possible for Rountree jr to beat hill, Rakic, Krylov and others ranked a head of them to earn another title shot.

She dominated in the first round.

Just to debunk more of TS nonsense the first round that suraez won was much more decisive than any round Umar won. Any argument against this statement I'm making can be ignored.
Um, no. Not at all. Suarez maintained top position for three minutes in the first round but that's all she did. She attempted no submissions, attempted no ground-and-pound, and didn't even lie particularly heavy on Zhang. Suarez gassed herself out holding Zhang down without making Zhang work at all, jumped a guillotine, then lost badly for the remainder of the fight.

Suarez was outstruck and out-cardioed in round one. If you score round one strictly within the words of the rules, Zhang won the round because she made the greater impact towards finishing the fight than Suarez did simply by letting Suarez gas herself out, causing a "diminishing of [Suarez's] energy, confidence, abilities, and spirit." "A judge shall assess if a fighter impacts their opponent significantly in the round, even though they may not have dominated the action," and it's clear which fighter suffered the greater impact from the round one action.

not sure what point you're trying to make.

I'll just go with "lol ok"

These two were especially emasculating visuals. For a somewhat boring fighter Merab knows how to play to the camera.
Merab pretty much chopped up the dagi's dick and turned into a vagina, OP must be inbred.

Merab vs. Umar definitely wasn’t humiliating competitive wise. You gotta look at context a bit though.

People said Merab was ducking Umar
Umar acted like Merab was ducking him
Khabib said Merab was basically forced into the fight with Umar

The general consensus among the Dagestani fanbase and fighters was Merab was scared, didn’t want the fight, and was merely keeping the belt warm for the uncrowned champ.. Only for him to win and taunt in the process. It was a slice of humble pie, therefore a little humiliating. I guess socially humiliating rather than competitively.

I agree. Umar vs Merab was competitive and Umar was winning up until the last 2 minutes of the fight. Optically it looked worse than it was.
