Weidman was never winning until he lost

Weidman showcased crisp striking there was a point in the second round were Jacare realized Chris was going to win unless he made it ugly. I think it’s more of a testament to Jacare than to say Weidman gassed or quit. Jacare just wouldn’t be denied and he took a lot of shots to land his own. It was a great fight.

Weidman gassed

Jacare could have never pulled that off in the first round

He waa clearly losing the overall fight against Yoel too, even though they were 1-1 in rounds

Weidman "won" the first round on the basis of Yoel doing absolutely nothing because he was gauging Weidman's speed and timing. Second round he got outstruck, easily outgrappled and ended the round on his back eating G&P.
This is why round by round scoring is shit.

That still doesn't change the fact he brutally knocked out SIlva and broke his leg in the 2nd fight. That's the whole point.

So what does this have to do with the title...jacare beating wideman?
And the second fight, again, was a freak accident. Its not like wideman kicked andersons leg and broke it.

like this at 31 seconds:

And google Corey Hill leg

Again, Silva will always be ranked higher in all time greats than Wideman.

Why would I google the Corey Hill fight when I've already seen it? The whole point of my post is pointing out all these ridiculous threads constantly downplaying how good Weidman is, like it will somehow erase those losses to Silva because 5 years later, the majority can't call the first fight anything other than a fluke.

I had the Jacare fight really close until the KO. Weidman was landing more jabs and straights but Jacare was landing the heavier stuff and great body shots and leg kicks.

It doesn't erase anything and I dont think Wideman was that great of a fighter myself, really.
The first fight wasnt a fluke. Anderson was bullshitting and clearly and cleanly got knocked out. Lesson learned i suppose.
The second one was a fluke, in that it was a freak accident.

Weidman's good but he got very lucky against Silva. Prime Anderson stiffens him in no more than 2 rounds

Nah, Weidman in the first 2 Rd is as good as any MW on the planet.

I question is Mental toughness tbh.

Need to get is confidence back imo.

I agree.

I’m not saying Chris hasn’t taken damage but I think the reasons he loses is because he fights the best AND gets more anxious as the fight goes on, destroying his performance.

You nailed a good point here, which is that this forum is overpopulated with biased, childish fanboys who can never appreciate the skill and determination of both fighters - rather, they can only see a fight through their bitter judgemental criticism of the fighter against which they hold some sort of personal enmity. Pathetic, all around.

Although he doesn't seem like the type that cuts overwhelming weight, as my wrestling coach saids it

I always thought he had a rep for cutting big amounts, as in he could comfortably fight at LHW and not be that undersized.

Yoel fight he was definitely losing, this one i thought he was on his way to winning.

But jacare won and he's the better guy, for now. I think weidman just makes the top 5 but he'l always have trouble against the top 4 guys.

I also think rematches with rockhold and jacare would be close and can go either way.

This.

Weidmann was winning the fight up until the half way point. If it had continued in that manner, it would have been a comfortable decision in his favour. Jacare bit down and started firing back, and eventually landed a heavy shot right in the sweet spot (which would have KO'd most people).

Also thought he was gassed and if he didn't finish Kelvin that round fight was over. Usada. I thought he was beating Romero though...

I think KJ Noons was lucky to get a doc stoppage against Nick Diaz, because by the end of the round Diaz was coming back and showing him what’s what...

...and even I shake my head at thinking Weidman was lucky he didn’t finish Kelvin when he did ;)

Ever since USDA weidman has been a one round fighter, after that the momentum clearly shifts.

I hate Noons more than any fighter in MMA history actually I just consider him a boxer. Holding up a picture of Nick's face saying look at this beautiful picture I painted on Inside MMA. And I'm right about the Kelvin fight.. can't tell if you agree.. clarify?

Bitch you won by cut stoppage shut up because Diaz had so much scar tissue that has now been fixed. What's this have to do with anything..? And I'm right about the Kelvin fight. I don't understand your post.. clarify?
Most thought Noons was “destroying” Nick. I think he cut him, didn’t hurt him, started gassing, and Nick was going to wreck him. Many others saw the same fight but simply never saw what I thought was obvious.

The flip side is that coin is that you seem to think Kelvin wasn’t getting his ass whooped and or Weidman was slowing down and Or Kelvin was showing some evidence that he was on the verge of a comeback.

We both watched the Weidman v Kelvin fight, but I simply didn’t see any of that evidence you saw, and apparently think is obvious.

So I think it’s funny, to be on the other side of that finally.

But rest assured, what I wasn’t trying to do is attack or offend. Just having a chuckle. Cheers.
