Interesting theory. I am not an economist and don't plan to act like one.. but, let me ask you.. if this was his true intention, is there a reason why he isn't stating so? He seems to be blaming trade partners and trying to correct trade agreements.. wouldn't he also claim that this was a needed adjustment to our stock market at the same time? All I hear him talk about is trade and tariffs. Why not claim this too? Because it hurts people in the short term - is that why?

There's NO way the wealthy class dont fortify their wealth with tax cuts, and passing along the costs of their business to the consumers. You know I was watching Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome this morning and I had a realization about the dispute between the characters of Master/Blaster and Auntie. At first I felt like they were all villains, but today I actually thought about Master/Blaster's existence. Master is a dwarf in a post-apocalyptic hellscape incapable of keeping himself safe, but smart enough to figure out methane extraction and conversion. All this intelligence did for him was.put him knee-deep in pig sh*t each day. Blaster is huge and strong but mentally handicapped, likely put to work shoveling pig sh*t because of his brute strength. Master realizes that he and Blaster make like one powerful unit, and realizes he can actually control the power in the town. He demands equal accolades to the Elite class, who feast.on fruit, drink fresh water, rob traders, and force people to fight to the death to settle grievances.

My guess would be that it's political suicide to admit you're triggering a recession on purpose to control the timing for election purposes.

Better to let everyone think you did it on accident. And bet that the recovery will happen before the next election so people won't still be mad at your party.
