It's all good. I'm modding in a (way smaller) forum myself and know it's not easy to be fair always.

Anyway, I get what you are saying. Yet one more thing: The threads that went like "I believe all fighters are on PEDs except X, Y and Z" went on for a long time. So this was ok until the threads escalated?

Without seeing the thread myself but just going off what you wrote above... No, that's probably not ok. It's more of a general statement but opens up too much loose debate within, so as Lethal noted earlier, those get deleted either before they escalate or because they have.

Did you report the thread to us? Threads will go on forever for better or worse until we spot them. This can be by happenstance, or through the assistance of the members in the community who we rely upon to be the eyes and ears to assist us, advising us through a report of threads or comments that are not appropriate.
There's a lot of threads, a lot of subforums, and a lot of content collectively therein. We cannot always find things ourselves.

So that particular thread by title, I imagine would just get deleted. But content therein if it got more specific or accusatory would deem further action depending.

It's a bit of grey overall when you try and get specific, so as I earlier eluded, better to stay on the strong side of the topic versus treading the line. Speak matter of factly versus making statements that could be deemed trolling, bashing, or just provide an opening for other to take offense and derail the higher points. You'll never get in trouble this way.

I would like to have a thread restored to the heavies please. I can completely understand why the title at first glance may have been wriitten off as one of the numerous "ronda scared," or "cyborg scared," threads that have been bombarding the heavies lately. However, this thread was focusing more on the business end from the promotions standpoint of whether or not it was a good business decision to let this fight happen at all.

There was some good discussion going (aside from the standard flaming) and it mostly stayed on topic. Please review the thread and let me know if it can be reinstated. Thank you.

9. Chat threads - including 'warwagons'
10. Fantasy Matchups - (Prime Fedor vs Prime Jon Jones)
11. Moderator discretion - a moderator may remove a thread that he feels is unnecessary or disruptive to the subforum.

I know that rule, but this situation is actually kind of different.

The thread has nothing to do with the matchup itself. Its about whether or not actually making this matchup would be a good business decision for the UFC, the risks and rewards comparisons and long term situations that can arise from it.

It's not your typical (Jon Jones vs. King Mo OR Robby Lawler vs. Ben Askren) thread where the match is between two fighters who are under contract with different orgs just talking about what the fight would be like.

This is a fight that the UFC is openly stating that they are trying to put together and the thread isn't about the fight itself, but rather a critical look at whether or not it is putting together this fight is too risky a business move.
 
The first post turned into the same tired shit those threads always do. Cyborg won't get tested, can't make 135, Ronda ducked her by dropping to 135, no 145 weight class in UFC, blah. blah, blah.

It's a laundry list of the same old same old.

Would it be okay for me to try and remake the thread in a better manner where it is clear that i am not trying to discuss the fight itself but the quality of the business decision?

What if i put in bold underlined italics at the top of a new thread:

THIS IS NOT TO DISCUSS THE MATCH ITSELF NOR A THREAD FOR A WHO IS DUCKING WHO CONVERSATION

Is it okay for me to make a new thread, reframe the central idea and see if sherdog is capable of staying on topic?

lol, that's funny, you thinking the title or the OP might have any influence on directing the responses in the thread. Come on man, you've been here as long as I have.

I could put in bold underlined italics at the top of your new thread: STAY ON TOPIC OR BANS WILL ENSUE and that wouldn't be enough to keep it on topic.
