Was Pride the most overrated organisation ever?

Chuck Liddell got DESTROYED in Pride in his prime.
didnt Chuck KO Overeem and some other schmuck before he got KO'd by Rampage? if thats right that means he was 2-1 in pride.. hardly call that Destroyed.

PRIDE is completely overrated on Sherdog. But, viewed through a historical lens, it revolutionized MMA in many ways. PRIDE was the early days of MMA and shouldn't be compared to current MMA in terms of fighter skill, drug testing, legit competition, etc.. But, the presentation of events and how they treated their fighters was great.

TS imo Pride was a better org than the UFC during the time that Pride was around, particularly in terms of entertainment value. I attended both Pride & UFC events & the Pride ones were quite amazing (eg. high level production, pyrotechnics & the Screaming Lady supporting a great roster of fighters).

All orgs seem to have a history of shady behaviour.

A lot of guys came to the UFC from Pride and were completely destroyed. Wanderlei, Cro Cop and many more. Fedor has a bad record fighting in the US. Unless you prove yourself in the UFC you never know who is legit. You can't take an organisation seriously where the referee wears an earpiece. Chael summed it up perfectly

Are you serious ? Most of the guys in pride were in the early twenties in pride. Your really going to compare them coming to the UFC towards end of their career. They were already fighting for years..

Fair assessment. It was definitely fun to watch, but lets stop acting like the pride guys were unstoppable

Shogun had shot knees when he came over and still won the strap. People noticed Fedor declining right around the Arlovski fight (don't forget all his sambo matches in between which add more wear and tear). Liddell had more success in the UFC than pride. I'm sure the cage versus the ring factored in for some fighters, but mostly it was wear and tear by the time they got to the UFC IMO.

Shogun had some wear and tear coming into the UFC, but to say his knees were shot is bullshit. He had surgeries, but was young enough to recover from them.

He also never won 3 fights in a row in the UFC until he started fighting guys out of the top 15. He got a title shot in the UFC after barley squeaking by old man Coleman and KO-ing a version of Chuck Liddell that couldn't take a punch anymore.

I'm not saying Shogun wasn't ever elite, but he tends to be overrated due to having one stellar year in Pride. Shogun like Cro Cop, Fedor, and Wand have fighting styles that work better in a ring with the Pride rule-set.

No because gsp never competed in it

Prime Shogun is another one. He became champ but he just matched up well with Machida. In most of his other fights he was destroyed

UFC sent Chuck to Pride in his prime. He was their killer, he lost.
