Was Frank Mir right about flyweights?

There are 125lb boxers that would shatter Frank Mirs glassjaw in one punch if he tried to fight them in stand up.

People might think that, but I bet someone like Urijah Faber or Mighty Mouse could wreck most 200 pound guys who don't train MMA seriously.

Urijah could destroy guys that're way over 200. Look at what Huerta did.

And what sports would Mark Hunt be playing? Or Kimbo Slice? Or Big Nog?

MM is athletic enough to do gymnastics in the Olympics probably if he trained. You can't say that about a lot of heavyweight fighters.

Hunt could play rugby or football. Big Nog I don't know.

I figured people would mention gymanstics, but I consider that athletics, not an actual sport. In an athletic event, as opposed to a sport, nothing your competition does affects what you do.

It does look a bit funny its like watching midget porn

But MM knock out changed whole meaning and confirmed UFC did the right thing.

Its just going to take time to get use to it!

Hunt probably doesn't rush fast enough to play football.

And Gymnastics is not a sport? If it is in the Olympics, it is a sport. So is running a sport? Swimming?

I explained what I meant by sport. There is more than one definition.

It's an assumption based on anecdotal evidence and the rate of obesity in North America. I was being generous, too. Your "average" 220 pound male probably struggles to break 7:30.

Americans are around 25% obese.

The average American male can't run a 9 minute mile, or do 20 non stop pushups.

I think its somewhat understandable given that MMA has always been hyped as realistic combat, "the toughest guy" is easy to hype than "the toughest guy his size".

Loads of short guys in top level football (soccer in USA) which is the biggest sport in the world

Urijah Faber or Mighty Mouse can fuck up anyone who doesnt train mma. From a skinny 115lbs asian all the way to a 6'8 fat 380lbs american.

Lol, why are we comparing FWs to untrained full-size men? The comparison is FWs to HWs and the answer is obvious. That said, people like what they like, and there's no point getting all the little dudes wound up over it.

What Frank Mir said is not "untrained 200 pound guys would beat 125 fighters"

He said "200 pound guys THINK they could beat 125 fighters"

I agree with frank mur for once lol. Your average women is bigger then them lol

I think it certainly plays a factor. However there are also lots of people who can appreciate their incredible technique, quickness and conditioning.

I'm 6'5 235 pounds, quite strong and in the prime of my life.......mighty mouse would absolutely kick my ass :D
That's about average on Sherdog.

Are you serious? I would bet the average 220 pound North American male is 25% bf, can't bench his own body weight and can not even run a mile without stopping. I am truly amazed how out of shape the "average man" is currently in the United States. That said there are plenty of 220 pound men that can run a 7 minute mile or better, just the "average man" is in worse shape now than ever and most people barely train (not even talking about martial arts) and if they do it's grabbing a pair of 30 pound dumbells and doing a few sets of curls per week.
