Warhammer 40k

For anybody that might still be interested, I've started my first priming and fitting of my warlord. Here's the upper body blue tacked together as a test.

Started out a fan of the Space Hulk video games, then played Mechanicus and fell in love with that too.

....really wish there was some other way to get into it other than painting figurines and playing board games....

I posted my titan over on dakkadakka hoping to get some feedback...and I got one reply. One! What a waste of time, I'm not bothering to post over there anymore.
That is going to look great on the table
Man I hope so. It's been so much work and there is sooooooo much more to go.

How about the dozens and dozens of great books? That's how I got into it as a little kid.

If the franchise won't give us some good shit, then the fandom will.

im almost finished reading Dark Imperium by Guy Haley, i've enjoyed it alot, sure its not the best way to advance the plot but its a good book

also Roboute said "im gonna make Ultramar great again" lol

What other ways would you hope there to be? Video games and books are both there and there is a dorky cosplay community as well - and the table top wargame and the painting element as well, obviously. Outside of films/shows, Warhammer has a pretty decent spread.

Is there a book out with Roboute being woken up, or is that only in the tabletop sourcebooks?

I think it was elsewhere that the big blue guy comes back. The Beast Arises is about a silly big orc invasion about one thousand years after the Heresy.

I read the cliff notes for the book. It's about the precursor to Roboute coming back. Then when that mixed race group goes through the webways and rezzes him is only in a sourcebooks as of yet

Minor Warlord update:
I've been doing a bunch of epoxying this last week (a lot of parts had to be printed in halves) and I'm now able to roughly assemble some of the bigger parts. I ran into one issue when trying to get a rough pose on the legs. Turns out with the shin armor the way it is you can only get about 10-15 degrees of forward tilt on the lower leg. I kinda freaked out about how little movement that is but I went back and compared it to the Mars-pattern armor and it looks to be almost the same. So I guess it won't be "striding" across the battlefield so much as "waddling". I might look into altering the between-the-toes armor bit and seeing if that can get me some extra movement. Changing those little parts is preferable to redoing the whole shin piece.

I'm on book 21 of the Horus Heresy.

Nope those are set just after the heresy and scouring etc so closer to 30k than 40k
Things are actualy going well for mankind until orks show that if you leave them be theyl come back to kork/ullanor levels
They almost wreck the imperium and vulkan briefly comes back not guilliman

Not to spoiler too much but
Basicaly vulkan still has some serious ptsd issues over what occured during heresy and the state of imperium etc...he doesnt do much in the novels

It leads to the rise of what becomes known as the beheading ( if you dont know what that is dont look it up ....if you do its fun seeing the good intentions that lead there)
-also its fun as youl see the origins of the deathwatch .....eventualy

Reread devestation of baal , loved the mephistion parts hes a beast
The hidden stuff in their chapter bowels like a wand that show alternative futures etc was a lore fans wet dream.....the cherry on top is the prisoner
A secret deep below ground area only chief liberians go that has a psyker charged prison . Runes and spell holding a single uber powerful chaos enfused unknown xenos.. ..as nothing else can hold him and they literaly cannot figure out how to kill him! The walls will apparently sear unprotected skin and before he goes mephistion fights an urge to stab prisoner just to inflict pain on him.
