Anyone listen to Voxcast over on GMs Youtube channel?
They are actually quite interesting podcasts, especially if you are interested in various aspects of the IP development (lore, modeling, turning fluff into crunch et cetera).
The Stormcast podcast on the same channel is decent as well, but somehow I feel that one is more marketing-oriented. I guess Stormcast might be more interesting for people who are actively playing the tabletop game.
 
My Knight Preceptor kit just came in and my worst fear has been confirmed: the cockpit is not mounted to the body shell, it is mounted to the underside of the carapace armor. The shitty part about that is I'm going to need to recreate yet another complex mounting surface, and that surface has limited options on where it can go. Basically it can move up and down (but not really back and forth) by maybe 5mm. Getting this thing to fit without modification might turn into a nightmare. I REALLY want my parts to be a straight up no-modification-needed replacement, but as of now I'm not sure that's possible.

An interesting thing that I hadn't noticed before was that the Preceptor's big las weapon mounts to the same shield/guard as the melta, so I will only have to design that plate once. I wanted to come up with a magnetizing system for the weapons but as of now I'm not sure I'll be able to make it work. The front parts with the barrels/muzzles, yes, I've got a good idea of how to do that, but the side accent pieces...not so much. I might have to include a drill template, but, as with the body, I don't want people to have to modify stuff. The melee weapons will actually be really easy to do; there is a part (#92, if you have a copy of the instructions) that you replace with an alternate 2-part piece. The upper part gets mounted in the shoulder and a lower part that mounts to the swivel. The upper and lower are magnetized and slot together and you just you proved two copies of the lower part, one for each melee weapon.

Oh, and this is funny: there is a big graphical error on the cover of the instruction booklet. Somebody fucked up on the layers and the copy editor flubbed their job.

This really is pretty crazy. I've bought a couple of physical models as well as schematics from Hero Forge in the past, and my impression is they hold to a pretty high standard. So this is probably not just a gimmick. Assuming this doesn't turn out to be insanely expensive (he mentions it costing 39$ in the video, which I think is just a little bit too pricy) it could genuinely make som waves in the industry, methinks.

So I’ve noticed that there’s a fuck ton of 40K video games out on the market. Which ones are good and which ones are not? The only one I’ve ever played was the first Dawn of War and a couple of its expansions.

The mmo 3rd person action shooter will give you cancer.
 
They have some excellent games such as DOW and DOW 2, but they seem to let their licence out to sub par/crap budget companies as well.

DoW1 and 2 are good, but 3 is decidedly not. The Space Marine third person shooter also gets decent reviews but I personally didn't care for it. I just could never get the combat to flow smoothly, the rage system just felt clunky.

The Space Hulk games are decent adaptions of the board game, but they suffer from the same issues as the boardgame: randomness can fuck you in the ass even if you play a tactically sound game. And when the dice screw you (and they will, eventually) replaying things can be frustratingly slow. And, at least in the version I bought, the movement calculator doesn't always spend AP in the ideal manner meaning you have to micro-manage certain movement paths.

GW has the unfortunate habit of letting out the license to lots of small studios that just can't do the scope of the setting justice. So you end up with lots of "meh" titles. From what I can tell most of them aren't outright bad games, just significantly lacking on some respect.

Anyways, based on Steam user reviews, Space Marine, Mechanicus, Battlefleet Gothic 2, and Space Hulk Deathwing are also supposed to be decent. But I can't vouch for any other than the first, which I mentioned not really caring for.
 
Just started getting into this. Holy shit there are a ton of novels out there.

Playing Space Marine on my old Xbox 360 and its fun.

May try and find a local game shop that plays and give it a whirl.
