Multiplat Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader CRPG (Dec 7). 2023 only gets better!

Okay... I'm starting off with Chapter 3... so I'm well past the early portion of the game, and... at no point has this game ever been fun. I'm still playing it because I paid $100 for it, and I don't have anything better to play I haven't already played through five times.

For me, this is a podcast game. Something to play while you're listening to your daily podcasts and catching up with the news.

I'm far past complaining about the lack of VO.
Thats a big issue, but it can be worked through.
My biggest issue is the gameplay is 'meh' at best. I've played through alot of T&C/RPGs over the last four years. It's trying to be a good Tactics-RPG with the grid-system and showing the percentage chance to hit... but XCom2 (from 2017) and Wasteland3 does everything significantly better.

The tracks are almost indistinguishable from the other, no matter what situation I'm in whether its a tough battle or in a serious dialog conversation.

The levels are poorly designed and make little to no use of cover, which I would have thought would be a major issue in these types of games.

The pacing is snails pace.
I absolutely hate that every time my ship warps to a new system I have to use some points, which I barely have enough all the time, and if I don't use more to go from 'danger' to 'safe' I have to do another battle for the 20th time of the same enemies... they're not tough, they're tedious.

Not having a great time.

Sorry you don't like. I loved pretty much every minute of it, but what can you do.

I always had plenty of Navigator Insight points when warping. When I didn't feel like spending it to make routes safer, or getting into a fight for XP, I'd just use the options of giving troops weapons/gear or gifts? to automate resolve the battles? In my 200-ish hours, I probably only had to do 5 or 6 fights I didn't want to. Not sure what you're doing wrong there. I'd get a lot of free points from certain choices when warping too.

It's funny, I'm trying to play through Wasteland 3 and I'm not enjoying the combat as much as RT.

There's a bit of a tough learning curve with learning builds.

My suggestion - Look up builds on YouTube.

Thanks man. I have a pretty good handle on things. I'll be sticking with it for a while as it plays perfectly on the Steam Deck. The only shitty thing is I don't know how to bring over custom portraits to it, like I have on my PC.

I have IBS (TMI I know lol) but a bonus of unexpected long bathroom trips, which no one can ever guilt me for, is the Steam Deck.

Right now my Squad has me as melee/medic, with my face photoshopped over the NES Metal Gear cover, good old Reese from Terminator

Using their pics from the internet, I have Quiet as my Sniper (Weapon modder). Gina Carano's Cara Dune (armor modder) as my heavy gunner, and Amos from the Expanse as a shotgunner/explosives. I have Kwon and some other Marshal rounding out my squad.

I'm attached to them, so the roleplaying is a lot of fun. The world building is awesome too. I'm sure I'll get into the swing of things once I get my levels up.

I like the game but I almost never had spare Navigator insight. Weird.
Warp travel is indeed tedious, as is abundancy of loading screens. Also the game would benefit if not every warp jump had a dialogue. Like, if nothing really happens, I do not need to click "Immaterium released it's grip..this time" every damn jump

I'm sure I had a few times where no dialogue appeared, but if that happened it was rare. If nothing happens after warping, just stfu and let us jump :D

On the Steam forums, I often saw people posting about not having enough Insight. A lot of people suggested using the Toybox mod to give yourself extra. I didn't know what Insight was until midway through act 2 I think. I had read something about people getting soft locked on missions in Act 2, not having enough Insight. I think that's when I finally looked up what the number at the bottom/middle of the screen meant. I had quite a bit. Maybe I just got lucky, but I did quite a few fights early on, thinking it was a mandatory part of the game, until I started seeing the same dungeon layout. I am a giant retard sometimes.

Heretic run is interesting. I can finally use the heavy bolter from the first chaos space marine you kill. It's a bit funny that you are just being evil and your dogmatic/iconoclast companions are making comments like why are you doing this? I think I can be heretical to a certain degree. The game allows you to do a lot but it does change the final ending.
