i can see why Cruz is the odds on favorite but i have to go with Cody on this one. Cruz's MO is unpredictable, evasive movements so it is super hard to get a read on him and react -- but Cody's power is something Cruz has not faced and his hands down, awkward stances makes him that much vulnerable to damage if a punch does connect.

Cody is also a fanatic boxer who has a impressive amatuer background and really solid kicks and footwork.

Cody 2nd rd KO.

I don't really agree about Cody being a fantastic boxer. "Solid" footwork is probably right, but it's not impressive. Another thing is that his simpler game gives him fewer options in terms of adjustments if things aren't going his way. But he has huge power and could catch Cruz.

What odds would you give Cody? I'd say around 25%-30%.

Hes got great length for the division, solid 1-2 combos with a lot of power and slides in and out pretty well. Amateur boxing record of 32 -1, and doesn't spam hooks. His head movement is nothing spectacular and does get clipped when does get backed up / is vulnerable to a good jab -- but hes got a good chin, and can explode. Also has that crazy fast jumping knee and solid leg kicks -- even has a decent power double (which wont matter much in this fight)

But its that quick power -- and hes super good at throwing combinations once he stuns you -- the almeida and mendes knockouts came quick and furious with combinations; and even in the Briones fight he landed some great shots that i think would end a lot of other guys.

You're right that i dont think he has the ability to adjust if he cant figure out Cruz, but if he stuns Dom, his legs are going to be jello and with the quick flurries of solid shots, could end the fight.

35% -- factoring all that AND hes training with a camp that knows Cruz pretty well. TJ is a hell of a good training partner for this fight.

EDIT sorry, forgot that TJ is not training with Cody for this fight -- even mocked him. Still, hes with a good team for this fight.

The odds have him at 35%, meaning it's not a good bet from your perspective. Personally, I don't think he wins 3.5 out of 10 here.

3.5 - 4 out of 10 seems right to me. If he was still over +200 i would've laid a bet on it.

I dont know if people are sleeping on too hard on Cody or too mesmerized by Cruz.

I don't particularly like Cruz, but I have to acknowledge that he does enough to win, whether you want to call it running is a different story. Cody hits hard, but I don't think his footwork is elite just yet, and I don't like the idea of betting on a guy hoping that he connects with one big punch. Such limited paths to victory don't really give me much confidence, though obviously Cruz could get KOd. Odds seem about right to me, if not slightly low for Cruz, imo.

Thats fair, but i dont agree with the notion that Cody is just a power slugger. He's got super fast and accurate hands and his footwork is really good (has a solid amateur background) He moves in and out well, just doesnt move his head as much. And its not going to be one punch -- its going to be one to stun followed 3 really quick to end.

Cruz evasive style should get him the decision but i just see him getting clipped in this one -- gut feeling.

I really thought TJ would have an answer, but he didn't. To be honest, I'm ambivalent here, because I put a few bucks on Cruz, but I'd kinda like to see him put to sleep. We'll see if your gut is right.

I do wish the Linker v Cody fight panned out so we have a better sense of how hes does against top 10 guys.

Super excited to see the Rivera v Caraway fight in Jan. Bantamweight has the possibilties for good fights but seems like pulling teeth to get top 10 guys to fight each other.

Thoughts on Lineker-TJ?

TJ's movement and striking proves too much -- TJ UD

I thought Dodson would do the same. I'm contemplating a bet on Lineker but I haven't really watched any tape yet. He's about 35% to win right now, which strikes me as slightly low.

You think Lineker has a better shot against TJ than Cody does against Cruz?

Linker is good, but hes way more of a compacted slugger -- TJ is going to have close to 4 inches on him + the speed and technique advantage.

My brother actually said my bench form probably helped screw it up. I keep my elbows out and the bar between my chest and shoulder which is farther up than you should normally do. I tried to adjust my form later on but it never stuck. I'll definitely get it looked at soon. I want to start my lifts again and I won't be able to if this isn't fixed
I actually haven't benched in ages. I've only been dumbbell pressing (which I know isn't too much different and may not help in your case) and doing weighted dips.

I mean, I'd switch back and forth from barbell to dumbbell when I couldn't go up in weight. Past two days I've had to do single arm stuff because of the difference between the two. It's really off.

Which forum is the most unfriendly or has the worst flaming?

You mean in sherdog or the internet?

Sherdog.

Never been there. But I find this crowd surprisingly easier to handle than in the berry. Those guys always call me a :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.

Well you would be in for a surprise in Bareknuckles.

Lineker should be the bigger of the two dogs, the question is if he's too much of a dog.
