just curious before i potentially start a thread in the Berry, do any of guys detail your own car? or shit, even take care of it all, or do people just use auto car washes...

I ask, b/c i know many of you live in different environments than I, and was just curious if people clean their own car and use any waxes/sealants/glazes

I've been pleased w/ generally silica ceramic based synthetic waxes/sealants but was curious as to what others experiences are

I’ve never been a guy that cared that much about his car’s shininess, but I have known people who love to do it and would even do their friend’s for fun or a very small fee (just not to seem pathetic). I get mine detailed at my car wash about once a year when I get my oil changed. I consistently and uncannily time this for the day of, or 1 day before a torential downpour.

i just bought my GF an espresso machine for Xmas for this exact reason
I live in the cuts, so we don't even have a Starbucks in my city (it's being built as we speak) but two mom and pop cafes. They're pretty good, but it still adds up if you constantly go to them

so i bought her the locally sourced hipster Joshua Tree Coffee Company espresso beans and i won't lie, it's on point
like perhaps the best coffee I've ever had
Still no Starbucks in beautiful Yucca Valley?

So I finally got around to begrudgingly watching the remake of Jacob's Ladder.

Holy shit. WTF. The original Jacob's Ladder in 1990 with Tim Robbins is one of my very favorite movies of all-time. The remake is really, really bad.

Weird how in a year in which several horror remakes are actually better than the originals (Suspiria, Pet Sematary, arguably Child's Play), the one remake for which the original is actually good is really bad. @LogicalInsanity @A.C.

how very interesting...I need to watch the original Jacob's Ladder again with TIm Robbins. I couldn't get into it because I watched it as a child. I couldn't distinguish between whether or not he was hallucinating or if it was real.

I still need to watch the remakes of Pet Sematary and Child's Play. I've been slacking.

on a related note. I always thought Pet Sematary was an allegory for a man with a gambling addiction.

when he buries a loved one , despite the terrible consequences, he doubles down...he does it again, convincing himself "it will be different this time."

he even rationalizes it..."I waited too long to bury her, it will be differnt this time."

very similar to how a gambling junkie desipte losing fortunes before, deludes himself into thinking "this time" he will win. this time it will be differnt.

Interesting. I thought the original was really bad, but from what I remember it does seem like that would translate really well as a critical analysis.

Given Utah fucking salts their roads.. the first weekend it doesn't look like it'll drop below freezing I'm going to a coin operated do it yourself car wash and taking the brush and the power washer to at minimum as much of the undercarriage I can reach.

Roommate:
"You really don't need to worry about cars rusting cause of the salt"

Me seeing rusted out 2010 cars... mentally:
That's fucking bullshit

So some guy on Fox Business just reported on Twitter that Obama is "increasingly anxious" about Bernie Sanders winning the presidency and is considering a public statement against Sanders soon. It's making its way around the neoliberal blogosphere.

I personally don't buy it and have more respect for Obama than that. But, if he did speak up and dead-hand the primary, what do we think the consequences would be?

a public statement against Sanders
I'm highly skeptical that would happen which makes the whole reporting questionable, but if it actually did and Obama takes a break from living the life to bash Sanders, I would flip to the other side of the coin and fully embrace the "they're against the Bern" line of thought.

That’s a cool interpretation

I'm sure Obama leaks this kind of stuff to Fox Business over other news outlets......

I used window chalk to put "All Aboard the Fuck Truck" in the rear window of my PT Cruiser. So, yeah, I've been known to dabble.

I didn't vet the source thoroughly, but I've seen similar reports in Politico, citing anonymous former staff.

What is the neoliberal blogosphere and why am I not on it? I’m still trying to get a clear definition of what that really is!!

I agree and think this is horseshit. It’s very unlikely imo that Obama says a word until the primary is settled. It seems like there several reasons why the right would put this out there.

not a bad option, but just a uh Protip, make sure you check the brush before using it (or perhaps even blast it off w/ the pressure washer)

Mainly b/c people often just leave those on the ground, and if little pebbles/rocks/anything gets stuck in the (generally not the highest quality) bristles, it can lead to micromarring or swirl marks in the paint

Especially if one has a Japanese or Korean car which tend to have much softer clearcoat than Euro or US produced ones

Oh, I do that already. Dad is old school and did work in a body shop so he even does that with the ones we have at home.

oh shit, ok, dad is not playing around

I recently copped a Dual Action polisher to fix any scratches or swirls in my or my people's cars, but i haven't actually used it yet

I didn't care as much about all this with my older car, but my new car has metallic Diamond tricoat paint so i'm taking it a bit more serious

I do the beard balm/oil thing and have for awhile ever since I grew on out fully. It cuts down on the itch so I'm willing to deal with it.

EDIT:
The company I use right now is "The Beard Struggle". A lot of their marketing is stupid "we're vikings cause we have beards" bullshit but the scent on at least the one balm of theirs I have is awesome and they have an unscented oil/balm as well.
you are normally such a sucker for marketing i thought the whole viking shit would be right up your alley , black rifle coffee... for fucks sake if i put a black dildo in a camo box and called it "tactical" youd be like " take my money!!"

When you have a balm that has a scent profile like the ocean with pine, cedarwood, and lime that's all it actually takes to sell me on a product that I am going to have to smell all day.
