Man, you had to go D E E P into my history to find something to rip on and that's the best you could come up with.

Anyway, getting old sucks. Neck and shoulder issues seem like they're going to follow me for life, so the best I can do is manage it with back strengthening exercises. Most recent issue was a sprained wrist, but I'm back in the gym now.

keep it up homie...

you'll only strengthen yourself in the gym. stay active, don't eat like shit and you'll be as good as new. (or almost new)

It took me about 45 seconds.

Oldest trick in the book.

All jokes aside, how old are you, if you don't mind me asking? These past threads we make can lead to great discussions, our past is not something we should run or be ashamed of.

I actually admire you keep training while having issues. Most people would quit. I'm 29 now and I feel like my injuries etc take longer to heal, less energy etc. Getting older is a hell of a thing lol

29?!?!?

you young motherfu*ker!!

Fu*k you.

Like, I knew they'd be expensive but I didn't think they'd be like sub-compact car expensive.

Makes sense given how high-tech the 4 lens ones are over the singular tube ones.
They're also heavy. That's like another kg on your head on top of the helmet

Yup.

It's why you see those weights on the back of ballistic helmets nowadays.

I remember listening to a Jocko podcast where he says he thinks he has permanent neck issues from the NVGs he wore in addition to the way SEAL training was when he went through BUD/S

I went to the Dr. when I was 34-35 for chronic back pain.

said that I need physical rehab, and that I wouldn't be able to do any thing physical again.

I refused to accept that fate. Joined a CF gym and my physical health has been great since.

lol yup, we sold the counterweights and different camo pattern pouches with hook-and-loop patches at that company. You could just slap them on the back of your helmet! I thought it was hilarious at the time.

Guy I know out here has the old single monocle NVG thing and a ballistic helmet.

I couldn't imagine having to have all that weight on your head for 18-24 hours a day. Blows my mind how heavy it was.

One of my TV/movie pet peeves is when they show a SWAT guy wearing a vented helmet. Did they just get back from rock climbing training or something?

Black Hawk Down it bothers the fuck out of me.

Literally all the Delta guys are wearing those black skateboard helmets. And black plate carriers.

There's actually a ton of mistakes in that movie if you've read the book or talked to anyone that was there/served with guys that were there. A big one is the representation that it's just Rangers and Delta.

The dude's that are at the first crash site trying to pull out Wolcott's body are PJs, the first man killed in the convoy was actually a Marine and the SEALs were with Delta that dropped in on top of the building to pull people out of that main building. Hoot was a mixture of like 3-4 guys, the guy Ewan McGregor plays I think ended up in prison for sexually assaulting his niece or some shit.

Lol the uniforms and equipment are almost always hilariously wrong

Brand is an interesting character. I get the sense he's smarter than he lets on, but he's also disorganized in interviews. EDIT: I don't think he has a coherent world view.
His intelligence is more social than academic. He seems like the kind of guy where, if you were in a room with him for 10 minutes, he could charm you to do something you wouldn't normally do.

When Brand is interested in a topic he seems to get his information and perspective from a pretty narrow (sometimes one individual) range of sources. Even when it's an esoteric point of view.
Rogan is similar, but it's more excusable (or at least less obtrusive) with his approach being podcast interviews.
"Sloppy" is a description you can apply to Brand both in terms of substance and style.
Works ok as comedy or on a discussion panel, but past that I find it annoying.

The right wing rabble is the primary target audience of MMA websites. MMA popularity is dwindling, hence, desperate measures to keep the forum traffic up. It's like Sean Spicer pleading to partisan politics to compensate for his poor dancing. Just look at the street fight forum - you can't tell me that's not just a horrendous ploy for forum traffic aimed at the flip side of the same coin as world star hip hop.
Horrendous ploy are you f***ing serious? all they did was catch up with the rest of the world after being stuck in 2001 since ... well 2001. The amount of traffic that sub generates is minimal and the restrictions for posting videos are brutal. You could make a thread about a PVZ instagram post and it will get more views on day 1 than the entire front page of the Street Coliseum.

Some people just can't understand the value of seeing a man get KOd by a fish imo

My favorite are still the bouncer fights. And not the usual ones where it's some giant ex football player Samoan bouncer that wrecks a manlet.

But the ones where the bouncer is an un-assuming looking dude that's like 5'9" and just destroys some roid monkey idiot.

I'm not likely to get over Man KOd By A Fish any time soon tbh
It brought me such joy

Best one I saw in there was a dude tell a dude to stay out of his area then koed him with a lightsaber

That reminds me of a conversation I had with a co-worker who was a bouncer on weekends (a 6'3" 330lb black dude). He said all the big bouncers were tough guys and can handle themselves (he worked legit places that hired pros) but he laughed and said that the head dude was like 5'9" and when he came out it's when real shit was about to go down. He was an ex Navy Seal and a black belt in Judo, I think and also a cop. He laughed because he said he was tougher than all the NFL sized dudes combined. He also told me this guy absolutely destroyed people but only got involved when it was serious (like a dude swinging a broken bottle or something). Basically if you were causing serious harm in his club you bought yourself a trip to the hospital when he got in there.
