I'm not pretending we can cure cognitive dissonance, but If you remove bias and dishonest reporting (to the degree which its feasible to do so) and maintain that over a long period of time (lets shoot for forever), then you're fixing that part of the problem.

Think of it this way: say you clean up the news and all reporting is done objectively and honestly. Do all complaints about liberal bias go away?
Now imagine you have cleaned up all the news, but a new source appears and it gives news that is openly biased. Does this source have a market?
