War Room Lounge v72: Nope

What are the chances we've been visited by intelligent space aliens?

It's hard coming to terms with the fact that an untalented, stupid piece of shit like Paul Ryan will live a long, happy life and influence the world more than I ever will.

Nonsense. If you were talented and smart and driven, you'd have the same chance as him. Better, even.

I know about that guy. He makes peanuts. He owes money to the government while making next to nothing. He admitted today about working in factory for 29k a year.

I actually think both Islam and modern West are in bad places when it comes to male-female interplay.

I don't really subscribe to the MAGA thing, but if someone asked me what is it about yesteryear that is better than today it would be the respect for the family unit in the recent past.

Many Islamic countries the woman are way too dominated, I mean, like not being able to go to a football match lol. It's a little on the nose that this is completely unacceptable so I won't really elaborate on it.

While in the West corporate life has been obsessed with divide and conquer and cheap labour, and first and most important area to divide is at the family unit level through hyper-individualism, and has driven everybody into the workforce making birth rates flop, strangers raising people's offspring, chronic pornography masturbators, children who despise their parents, more people unmarried and single later in life, higher divorce rates, cat ladies and e-THOTs guzzling anti-depressants.

One of the things that really irks me is when women mention one of their friends who after finishing school immediately got married, and became a stay at home mom raising a family. They say "they could never do that", that she is dependent on her husband and if their relationship dissolves she won't have good career prospects blah blah blah. It's invariably someone who is old and single without a family and is completely miserable who is saying it. I can't help but think their projection is the all-to-often-case of having fallen for the con of being an "strong, independent, career woman".

And there it is. These women today are miserable. They are being shoe horned down a road they were never ment to travel. These women should have found a high value male (Tall, attractive, has money, can contribute to good genetics for kids)

Instead, they listened to 'Sex and the City' and now they are cat ladies. Watch for it. This generation and women in our life time will be dropping off on mass, and we already know women's happiness is at an all time low.

Don't agree at all. Explorers explore for the sake of it.

Well yah, but the resources needed to traverse the distance plus the time means there are diminishing returns. When it costs far, far less to send a probe to do the same thing, ot becomes quite the stretch to say 'Nah, let's just spend a few hundred years flying there'.

What if, since Mars has water on it, we used to live there but fucked up the climate so badly that we had to send an escape pod to earth with only Adam and Eve on it?

Then we wanna go back after we turned Earth to Mars and start all over. Makes sense metaphorically.

In a newly sworn affidavit prepared for a European court, Shokin testified that when he was fired in March 2016, he was told the reason was that Biden was unhappy about the Burisma investigation. “The truth is that I was forced out because I was leading a wide-ranging corruption probe into Burisma Holdings, a natural gas firm active in Ukraine and Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, was a member of the Board of Directors,” Shokin testified.

“On several occasions President Poroshenko asked me to have a look at the case against Burisma and consider the possibility of winding down the investigative actions in respect of this company but I refused to close this investigation,” Shokin added.

To be fair, I don't think there's anything wrong with being a career woman and what not. If it's something you really want to do you should do it. But I do think there is a lot of societal pressure that makes people do things that inwardly they don't want to do.

I find Marx's contributions to sociology underappreciated, and economic institutions are dominant in society. No doubt corporate leadership likes to get the biggest access to talent pool. Now the name of the game is strong diversity promotion to get more people wanting to work at companies. The front door says come in everyone, be yourself, we love you, we want the LGBTQ plus, we want the visible minorities, we want the women; the back door is getting tighter on pay and benefits and no real wage growth for middle class, and now it seems upper middle class is starting to lose out more and more of the pie to the top level.

Then you take a look at what kind of quotas are the most important for companies to hit? Is it blacks, latinos? is LGBTQ plus? Is it native people? Is it people who are crippled? I'd say it's women. Why? Because people know women marry up more so than men. The more women are willing to put in extra hours, the more men know subconsciously they have to put in the extra hours. Because the vast majority of the time, a woman making 50K a year will be coupling with a man who makes more than 50K a year. If a woman is making 100K a year, chances are she'll be looking for a man making 200K a year.

The inverse of course is certainly not true. People can pretend this social dynamic doesn't exist, but it clearly does.

And this is largely the reason why big business is thrilled and on a massive mission to push women up the ladder these days. These companies that act big on "social justice" quite often have no problem with deliberately not paying people overtime (unless they assess the legal risk is too great), restructuring jobs and sending them to countries with extremely poor labor conditions and so forth. It's really quite the hustle.

The UFC has released BJ Penn.

Anyone aware of a list of CTE cases or potential cases among longtime UFC fighters?

And helping that, it looks to me like we'll develop technology to control our desires faster than we develop it to achieve the desire for interstellar travel.
Whoa, there's an interesting angle. On one hand, it seems absurd to speculate that we'll stop caring much about far space travel, given our entire recorded history and progress. But like DRS said, the multiple planets and possibly asteroids/comets will keep us very busy in the foreseeable future and we'll have likely completely different expectations and desires by the time those technologies are developed, and that's without considering the possibilities for controlling our minds.

To be honest, I've always simply taken it for granted that we will always be "one more hill beyond" explorers at heart and that it will never end. But if I'm right and we're just up against a completely insurmountable reality of physics, then why wouldn't we modify our desires according to what's possible (or reasonably "impossible") instead of sinking into a planetary funk for the next five million years?

Hopefully Bellator doesn't pick him up.

Also, I'm not counting on the lounge solving the Fermi paradox. At least not without appeals to Hunt.

Only Tim Hague as far as official cases.

B.J. for sure, with his violence and threats and craziness is the top contender imo. We're still a few years off from reliably diagnosing it in living people, I think.

Far bigger than any other problem is travel distance/time. We could be jumping with life all over the place and nobody would ever know. Hitting the bull's eye by stumbling upon life at its technological peak is already tough, probably, but even that is relatively easy compared to the limits of physics and the vastness of space.

Time dilatation helps, though.

Yeah, I was more thinking about cases where MMA fans believe 'it's that or drugs or both'.

Kinda like Chuck yes, Tito no. Tony yes, Bisping no
