When I watch Hanks doing that, he's acting and I see that he's acting, and it has stink of acting. I shouldn't be watching him acting, I should be watching the captain's story finish. Not much of a payoff for a boring movie about a tiny boat that definitely isn't the big boat. Castaway is far better and Hanks is better in it.

Fair enough. I do get that.

Rourke is washed up, WE GET IT (see what I mean?).

I don't see what you mean.

The end of Jeff Bridges' career was an apology by America for not formalizing its love for The Big Lebowski in its time.

Now this is legitimate heresy. Bridges is one of the most natural and naturally talented actors in American film history. Everything he is in is made substantially better by his presence. Crazy Heart is by far his best, but he was also excellent in The Contender, True Grit, The Last Picture Show, and Hell or High Water (easily the best Western since No Country).

The Rourke role was a meta thing. A washed up guy playing a washed up guy, and it was supposed to be brilliant because of that. That's fine, it just doesn't taste good to me. I don't begrudge anybody for thinking it was something special. I think it was competent and plain as a performance, riding on Rourke's reputation, but the film was made with a lot of care and it was basically flawless.

Bridges didn't get the love when he should have is all I'm saying. Instead we got a couple year period at the end of his career when everybody loved him all of a sudden. No doubt that was because Lebowski became a cult classic and we collectively felt bad for not recognizing it back then.

But does anyone say that a white perpetrator that commits a crime should be given a medal? #goalposts

Is this another one of your "centrist" posts?

Or just derailing as usual because you are a shit poster?

Lol, if anybody ever wants to know the definition of "derailing" someone should show this post, don't you agree mods?

That's no crime. He's just an alpha doing locker room talk, which we all do. Also, that woman is a liar and that picture is fake and the accuser dropped out of the media once he threatened to crush her financially with legal action so she must have been lying.

Well iirc Bridges had somewhat of a retributional career arc like Rourke, Downy Jr., etc. as well, having been a prodigy who became regarded as lazy and aimless for some time - very Dude-esque.

No need for insults.
Yes, there really are.

You have been shitting up threads without consequence ever since you created this POS account.

The fact that you haven't been carded or banned is a complete joke.

If you want to stop being insulted, stop doing stupid ass things to derail threads, like posting a picture of Joe Biden in a fucking thread about the Austin bombings.

Evidenced by the shameful period when Beau was the star...OOF. The talent fell on one side there.

lol I had to look him up.

I can't figure out where I've seen him before.

EDIT: Oh, god, I figured out the one movie I've seen him in and remember him from.

On that note, @Fawlty @PolishHeadlock , what do you think are the best acting performances you've seen?

I'd go:

Ellen Burstyn - Requiem for a Dream
Benicio Del Torro - 21 Grams / Che
Paul Giamatti - Sideways
Jennifer Lawrence - Mother! (a tour de force in an otherwise frustrating film)
Jeff Bridges - Crazy Heart
Stevel Carell - Foxcatcher (and basically everything he does)
Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler
Woody Harrelson - Out of the Furnace
Forest Whitaker - Last King of Scotland
Jake Gyllenhaal - Brokeback Mountain
Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight
Tim Robbins - Jacob's Ladder
Robert DeNiro - Taxi Driver
Tom Hanks - Captain Phillips
Lupita Nyong'o - 12 Years a Slave
Joaquin Phoenix - Gladiator (stole the screen in an otherwise overrated movie)
Sean Penn - Mystic River
Naomi Watts - 21 Grams
Michael Clarke Duncan - The Green Mile
Robin Williams - One Hour Photo
Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Capoti
Judi Dench - Notes on a Scandal
The dude from The Office playing a badass fmr JSOC dude in 13 Hours.

Liberals told me that it's impossible to be racist against white people.
Once again, @HereticBD , you are not a conservative; you are a Canadian.

You have universal healthcare. You are a socialist.

Stop playing conservative online unless you are ready to give up your guaranteed healthcare and affordable university system.

lol I remember him as the dad from Sidekicks.

Also as the dad from Teen Wolf, even though that wasn't him.

We Canadians also have conservatives.

Enough for a whole party even.

Second half drags, but the first half and much of the second half is some of the best comedy I've ever seen.

But John Goodman and Jeff Bridges are both in my all-time top ten favorites. And I like the Coen Bros.

I like most Coen stuff but just never got the love for that one.
