Infraction just means one or more points were given out.
Cards (Dubs) just mean a certain amount of points (4 or 6). A single card is usually 2 points. A ban is 10 points.

The number of points handed out is usually based on the severity of the infraction and/or if the poster has previously been warned or infracted for it in the past.

How long do our records stand? Like, if I was an egregious rule breaker but stayed straight for say 7 years, would my record be clean?

Any infractions you have stay with your account. Obviously if you didn’t do anything for seven years, we wouldn’t really weigh that old one much but it still isn’t an excuse to do the same infraction multiple times.
