Gets framed as a way for 'self-leadership' in the context of positive leadership in my company. I like it as a way to become more aware of option spaces.
Hmm, I'm guessing this was either an inspiration for or inspired by Disney's Inside Out

Beethoven's Symphony No.7 in A major op.92 - II, Allegretto is the greatest piece of music that will ever exist. Nothing will convince me otherwise.
Ralph Vaughn Williams......" Hold my beer"......

That Florida handicapped parking spot stand your ground trial began in Florida today.

God I hope he gets found guilty for the sake of stand your ground laws remaining intact everywhere. If this guy does get off of yelling at someone, being pushed to the ground, then shooting a guy 10 feet away who's backing up then I'll be forced to agree that the wording of syg laws needs to change.

Pretty sure he'll be found guilty. I guess 3 months prior he threatened to shoot someone else over a handicapped parking spot as well.

Ugh.

For the record, I support a (qualified) castle doctrine, but stand your ground is asinine to me. There is nothing more "pussified" than being so scared of a fist fight that you need the right to shoot someone dead for approaching you or throwing a punch at you.

I wonder when the amber guyger trial starts

We're about to have some very heated trials coming down the pipeline..

Dallas lady who went to the wrong apartment? Just looked it up and it starts September

That one I reeeeeaallly have a feeling she'll be found not guilty and argue it was just a tragic accident and jury will side there. Riot police gonna have to gear up big.

Problem is they're pushing for murder and not manslaughter.

Agree 100%

We both know by the way you've asked me "Why's that?" that no matter what I say you are going to disagree because it's Trump related.
Honestly, no. I didn't find anything in the post quoted that would evoke a disdainful reply. And believe me, I have a lot of disdain to spread around here. I can't help but detect a strong hint of projection from your response.

But that there isn't what stand your ground is about.

Stand your ground simply states there's no duty to retreat, and you have a legal right to be where you are. Responsive force still has to be equivalent to the threat. Basically applies for when a person could have walked away, but instead didn't, and person b then jumps to pulling a knife the person who didn't walk away before the conflict became a deadly encounter isn't responsible for that.

If this Florida stand your ground case is seen as a valid defense, well then I guess you're right. But I don't think that'll happen. We'll know in about a week.

Nobody has ever really shown me a case where self defense wasn't adequate and Stand You Ground was needed.

I go John Wick on aggressors and their whole family.

If that's the one on video w/the shooting of the black dude it seemed like super clear-cut. If that doesn't get a conviction there's no use having law in Florida. If there's anything the law should do, it should stop people from escalating confrontations on purpose so they can kill people and get off. That's like Hollywood level lawlessness.

<Dany07>

And yeah, way to show that you only care about the case because the victim was black.

Yeah it has always seemed like some reactionary horse shit that didn't need to be a law at all. It seems to function mostly as an emotional support dog for racists and gun nuts.

That's because Ground Was Stood before you could see why it was needed.

Read your post wrong I guess. My initial post in reference to his where I mentioned disdain was because I thought some people would lash out at him. Trump is very hated by those that post in the Lounge, anything Trump related is almost always met with hostility.

I was going to say virtue signaling for the right but fair enough lol

This is amazing.

It's my understanding that the Buddhist taxanomy of emotions is actually incredibly thorough and complex, not to mention old.
