When no person is in immediate danger (family is not home) this hints that guns should be used as a tool of intimidation to stop property crimes by threat of force, as the primary purpose of the gun in that situation. With very rare exceptions that requires the training and the backing of the collective in the enforcement of the law, imo. I'm a believer in not pulling a gun you do not intend to use.

Also pretty much every dude thinks he's a hero deep inside, that he can handle the situation despite having never trained for it or having experience with it. Many combat vets would be okay in that situation (but many wouldn't).
Fair enough. Personally even if I did have a gun I don't think I'd want to engage such a situation. I think firing warning shots is illegal and I don't think I have it in me to gun some random cunt down so I'd probably settle for calling the cops.

Will wait for non-InfoWars-type sources.

Why are your sources so often these dogshit sites that are even worse than Breitbart? It's not like you're incapable, you're a fucking attorney.

Probably they don't want candidates to be overtly political in general. She's quoted in that story saying that she feels like it would be OK if her views weren't so stupid (paraphrasing). Sounds paranoid. I'm sure Cubo thinks it's censorship, though.

Miss Nevada Banned From Entering Miss America Over Her Support For Trump

Well she doesn't seem as bad as that Miss Michigan in her defense. But still, if you want to run for Miss America you should try and avoid any kind of controversy, especially political controversy. I remember reading about an Indian Miss World competitor who lost because instead of talking about reducing poverty in India during the Q&A she said something about expanding women's sports. They take PC to a whole new level, you're supposed to be incredibly sanitized and inoffensive to be able to compete.

So not surprised. If someone produced an example of some SJW contestant getting more slack I might be convinced of bias. But then again SJW types tend not to be beauty pageant contestants for multiple reasons.

In the conservative soft boiled brain, it's a reverse catch-22. The fact that mainstream outlets don't cover this story is proof of their bias against conservatives.

The last time a right wing pageant girl got removed, the right wing outlets ran a ton of preemptive bullshit stories, and when the truth came out she was lying about how it all went down, and her behavior was crap.

It's not just climate science (or just economics, or biology, or geology, or individual CTs), though. And it's not just Trump. The right is rejecting the idea of objective reality now at the highest levels. Any information that is unpopular in the movement is rejected out of hand with no consideration--not just by rank-and-file voters but by high-level pundits and politicians. And that's not something that can be bothsidesed away. People try to use the extreme fringe left to present it as a bothsides issue, but the mainstream right is the problem. Good piece from Chait here:

is this all you do in your free time? just read and read? lol.

Three more NRA officials reportedly step down

https://thehill.com/homenews/458101...ls-step-down-amid-spending-controversy-report

Three more officials have reportedly stepped down from the National Rifle Association (NRA) amid a spending controversy that continues to roil the gun rights lobbying group.

CNN reported Tuesday that country singer Craig Morgan and NASCAR team owner Richard Childress have both resigned from the gun group's board. The outlet cited sources with knowledge of the matter.

David Lehman, the deputy executive director and general counsel at the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action, is also reportedly on the way out of the organization.

Morgan and Childress both functioned as prominent public faces for the organization, while Lehman filled the roll of top lobbyist since Chris Cox's resignation in June.

The exact reasons for Morgan and Lehman's departures were not immediately clear and the two did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment. The Hill has reached out the NRA for comment.

Childress wrote in a letter to NRA executives reported by NPR that "with great regret and a heavy heart" he would resign from the gun group's board and affiliated entities in order "to fully focus on my businesses."

"Since proudly agreeing to serve on the NRA Board, I have supported the organization and its important mission to preserve and protect our Constitutional rights. But when, as now, I am no longer able to be fully engaged in any commitment I have made, it becomes time for me to step down. I have reached that point in my ability to continue to serve the NRA," he wrote.

The departures are the latest in a steady stream of exits since the ouster of ex-President Oliver North amid accusations from longtime CEO Wayne LaPierre that he attempted to extort him over the NRA’s finances.

LaPierre himself has been a focus of scrutiny over his handling of the organization’s finances, most recently in connection to reported NRA discussions about buying him a $6 million home in the Dallas area.

Professional sport shooter Julie Golob announced last week she would not complete her full three-year term on the NRA board of directors.

The exodus from the NRA also comes amid increased pressure on the group which consistently lobbies against gun control in the wake of two mass shootings within a 24 hour period in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, earlier this month that left 31 dead.

Does anyone know where Preet Bharara's podcast went (or has it moved to Stitcher only)? It was originally on wnycstudios, then I got it on NPR for a while, and now...? @kpt018

This is over my head.

A certain oft-banned user made a special account on fight night to accuse me of being this new person based on some fancy linguistic analysis around comma usage.

By "fancy" I mean falsfiable in about 4 seconds (by @Trotsky in this case), but still a step above the usual emotional diatribe.

@Fawlty I just recently downloaded ep 99 through apple podcasts. I have it automatically download and didn't notice any issues.

I know he's thin. I'm just messing with him.

I think it's funny that he identifies as "native" when we all know the truth.
Idk I’m “white passing” so I know how it is. I have Asian and Hawaiian blood and take after the Ashkenazi, English and Slavic looks a lot more. People think I’m Portuguese.
I feel like there are way too many elements to this scenario to expect good outcomes, even from a well trained person trying to intervene. The possible outcomes range from going in and saving the day to getting yourself killed to accidentally killing your neighbors. Part of being a responsible gun owner is understanding your limitations.
@A.C. any thoughts on the scenario?
Bolded is very true and that goes for everyone and every situation as well, from police to civilian to Marine infantry. Nobody is really John Wick lol.

Yes there are too many elements at play, including unknown elements, in such a situation for any actor to predict what exactly will happen. But whether you can expect a “good outcome” I suppose depends on how you define that phrase. But no innocent people getting hurt would be my definition and whether you can expect that would depend on so many factors from lighting and weather conditions to number of assailants/criminals to experience of the intervening party, and so on.

Too many factors and variables to consider to give general answers beyond a case by case basis. But just like a fist fight anybody can knock anybody out on a given day, but the odds heavily favor the one who has not only been training and preparing mentally and physically but is better equipped.

I was watching a lecture on ''the truth in true belief'' yesterday and it contributed a bit to my understanding of dasein as political thought in our age.

I've always had the idea that rightism, especially its internet manifestations, functions as a belief system as Dr. Carse here explains, not as a system in inquiry. It is complete, it has a boundary, once you're inside it it makes complete sense, and you are not to attempt to get out of it. This is, IMO, what makes it so seductive to young men (such as myself, once upon a time) who didn't really know anything. It's complete. All you have to do is learn its precepts and arguments. It's literally like buying a logic gun and ammo: now you are armed. I don't see how else you can get people like Greoric who seemingly do nothing but read about their little hobby horse and never come to a single counterexample. They're not trying to get out, they're learning their belief system.

This is good. I thoroughly enjoy when you spurt such savory abstractions from your cortex. It ejects effortlessly nice and precise from within you Mr. Prokofievian we shall saturate in such fine production.

Thank you, what a lovely sentiment.

Man, i've been called a fake Indian so many times in my life lol. Being light skinned means I have to account myself to people in the Native community and also those outside it. Par for the course.
