Just in general, adding a firearm in any scenario introduces the possibility that it is used, and the multitude of possible (read: mostly bad) outcomes that comes from that. Ideally, the scenarios should be limited in ways to minimize the possible bad outcomes.

I think, in the hands of someone who knows how to use it at least, more of those outcomes are bad for the thief breaking in than for the gun owner and I would prefer that over being defenseless and confronting a burglar. If I didn't have a gun I would just call the cops from a distance and resign to letting my neighbors house get broken into and the myriad of potential bad outcomes that can come from that because I wouldn't be confident in confronting them.

Thankfully I live around the kind of white people who have guns so if anything they're the ones who should be protecting me.

He used to get more. It was too much, but I actually agree that he should get more. He's wrong about everything and smug about it, but he's kind of a bridge to the time when right-wing nutters seemed to genuinely believe that they had facts and logic on their side. These days, the right increasingly seems to not believe that facts and logic even matter, and it's just all-out war on a tiny fringe of the extreme left.

Big underrated story is the total collapse of any rational basis for supporting the conservative movement in the Bush years (drug wars discredited, gay panic discredited, regressive tax cuts/deregulation discredited, right-wing FP approach discredited).

No, that was Tommy Sotomayor. Not sure why he went on his show because he had to have known Dave's a J00 as well, which Tommy doesn't particularly care for.
