Yeah, I don't know where people are getting this "Greoric was tame" thing. I mean, I guess he was well spoken enough, but he was pretty fucking explicit in his blatant racism.

Maybe I was just late to noticing it but for the first couple of years I interacted with him he mainly posted about monetary policy.

But like I said we he eventually opened up about race it was pretty egregious.

The other 2 were always talking about identity politics from what I noticed

@Greoric had a gradual shift to what most remember him for. He wasn’t always obsessed with that topic, but once he did, he became a lost cause. It was the only thing he wanted to discuss. He’d tag mods in threads asking if he could bring up some scientific racism talking point after being told before no. The guy was broken.

And to add to another point, I think he moved around a few threads at a time. One of his issues was derailing because he wanted everything to be about race regardless of what the thread was.

The Science and Politics sub on the Misc was worse than it is here today, but 5 years ago. I can't imagine the shitshow it must be now.

Eh, I’d say he had a full year after he reached that. He wasn’t banned quickly in the sense of warnings, cards, dubs, etc. By the time he got banned, he made it pretty clear he couldn’t stop what he was doing or didn’t care to.

I think losing arguments and seeing the unpopularity of right-wing libertarianism did steer him in his latest direction (also mirrored the shifting of Molyneux). He was smart enough to realize he was losing arguments but not smart enough to just change his mind. His first step toward his final form was the view was that only white people cared about freedom (as defined by libertarians). I mocked his fear that increased minority presence would turn America into Norway in the worst-case scenario or the Northeast U.S. He deflected.

Yeah I remember I told him that I wasn't scared of becoming a minority in the US in terms of race and he told me I should be scared because minorities aren't treated well.

Instead of embracing laws that would protect minority populations he wanted to ensure that whites would always be the majority. And that discrimination based on race was just the markets working
