The bolded is exactly how I feel about it. With the minor caveat that I found the first one grittier and rougher. I still remember the rape scene at the start this many years later. This one with the guitar hero, waif super model breeders, etc. just seemed a tad sillier, which is were my camp reference comes from.

I agree that guitar man was straight up camp, BUT, he made sense within the world. He was treated as a guy banging the war drums, and that's fine. Silly at first, but when you step back, it worked. It wasn't out of place, which is the strength of that flick. When it can make you think some strung up guitar dude fits, it's doing something right.

To me personally, "camp" comes down to silly stuff being completely out of place, to the point where it's noticeably cheesy. Like it doesn't fit with the world.

Hahahaha. Males on my father's side of the family is very tall and very skinny (they're all about 6'2 140-170 lbs) I broke both molds. Because I was really into fitness when I was younger and was obsessed with adding muscle, I think I fucked up my metabolism. Now I can put on muscle really quickly, but I also will get fat if I don't stay active. I put on forty pounds in just my last two years of law school.
- Really into fitness
- Able to permanently change metabolism
- Gained 40 lbs in two years
- Obsessed with ‘Adding muscle’

I guess it’s a definitional thing. I think Buffy the vampire slayer or ash vs the evil dead is campy, I still liked that stuff though.

Random topic: Brand Loyalty

This would be a good Mayberry thread, but I don't really care about the perspectives of persons I know nothing about.

I'm not aware of any argument that brand loyalty is a positive phenomenon...or anything other than a horrible defect to commercialism, but most people still have it in some areas.

I don't think I'm a particularly brand-loyal person. I like Bunny Bread, Everyday Essentials potato chips, Super Chill soda, Purus Vodka, and Buffalo Trace bourbon, but I won't go out of my way to get them or insist on them over a more convenient alternative. I just like their product/price point most.

The only two brands to which I would say I'm brand loyal:

It happens a lot. Me typing it out on this website doesn’t change anything. It happens, all the time.

Sure people cheat in marriage all the time, for all kinds of reasons. Men more than women and more often for reasons of sexual dissatisfaction vs. emotional/relationship dissatisfaction for women, but again it’s not easy to generalize. So sure, staying in shape will help but so will not being an asshole, doing well for yourself, choosing the right person for the right reasons, etc.

Those two are campy and they know it, though. They also managed to make it work, which is a feat in and of itself.

I think what "Fury Road" excels at, is taking the absurd, and grounding it to some form of realism, where for some reason, most don't think it's cheesy as fuck.

Can't argue with people who do find it all a bit silly, but I think it successfully crosses over to most, and doesn't give off that cheesy vibe.

Brand loyalty benefits are derived from the fact that it has to be earned and backed up.

Do I trust a product to give me what it promises?

Will I pay more or buy more of that product based on that trust?

I'm a Leafs fan. A Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Haven't won shit since the 60's, and their success/failure means absolutely nothing to my personal life, but I'm one of their guys, and wouldn't cheer for another team in the GTA for...reasons...

Yeah, brand loyalty...it's a thing.

I think if you like one peanut butter more than others, that's not brand loyalty but flavor preference. For me, I think Bally and AEs are always going to be who I check first if I need new casual shoes. And that is just that I've had good experiences with them in the past.

I don't have any brand loyalty that I can think of. I prefer Bulliet Bourbon and Knobbs Creek to others in that price range but if Makers Mark or Elijah Craig are on sale I'll grab them.

What if they moved to another city?

UFC PPV is on tomorrow or Just Bleed Production has a show being streamed. Both cost $10.

Which one do u watch?

We don't even need that hypothetical because we had Pride, Strikeforce, Affliction and other orgs back in the day.

Back when they were all competing I bought what looked like the better cards and they were all similarly priced.

I'm loyal to the location of the brand, barring some intangibles...

I think "shop local" is different than brand loyalty. I guess it can be a part of the brand but I think of brand loyalty as going with the brand regardless of what they do.

Even with that do you follow the Leafs if they suck or do you just not support other teams?

I chear for all Philly teams but the Eagles are the only team I actively follow even when they are garbage

Someone posted in the WR that Lashana Lynch is going to be the next 007? LOL, looks that franchise is done.
It's not really a James Bond 007 at this point, may as well call it something else. I know the article say she's not replacing Bond, but I really don't see where theyre going with this now.

It should have been Idris Elba. He would have slayed that role.

Is that a trick question? Of course I follow the Leafs when they suck. What choice do I have?

Brand loyalty...it's real.
