Yes yes I believe it's important to report both sides, the real and the potential.

I think the potential for potential abuse has been demonstrated itt, but the potential for abuse that unleashes potential is underestimated.
For example, there are situations like the one with wai where a little abuse would solve a complicated situation.

DS just got Kamala Harrised by NG

Has there ever been a more athletically scary fighter than Ngannou? I think not. With the right camp, that dude should be unstoppable. He's 250 with the speed of someone who is 185 and the power of an elephant.

I'm also a big fan of the guy

Jones is athletically scary AND legally allowed to juice. Doesn't get much scarier than that.

@PolishHeadlock2 You and SBJJ's exchange in the "photo of dead migrant and child" thread is really something to behold in terms of bad faith moral arguments (the "you're a creepy scumbag" bit).

But the thing is, he's not very good aside from that athleticism. So he seems simultaneously very beatable and very scary. It's a fun mix.

While this is true, he likes the elephant power @Trotsky mentioned

Depends how you measure it I guess. He's kind of a one trick pony from what I've seen though. I don't think it'll be too long before he gets caught with his stand and bang style, and his mythical status is destroyed. Overeem is a scary motherfucker too...until he isn't.

Personally I think the perfect all around fighter, who at the same time is dirty(protect your eyeballs and kneecaps), and is essentially allowed to juice on top of it all, is scarier.

Kind of a strange career. He doesn't start MMA until the age of 26 and all of his early wins were by submissions. You'd think with his natural power, he'd have been knocking fools out and getting submitted.

And I'm not even sure that just "athleticism" fully captures the dude. He's also just so light and loose on his feet and fluid with his strikes: he's not just throwing haymakers. I guess that's athleticism too.

It's gotta be seriously scary to face that guy.

I think prime Anderson must have been a really scary man. Just consider someone like Rich Franklin who certainly believed he had a chance the first time and then had to face him a second time.

Rich had such lively facial expressions while fighting. In both of his fights against Anderson you looked at his face while he was clinched and it looked like he was staring at death.

Especially the second fight. Anderson apparently obliterated his nose in the first fight, that took a long time to heal, and Franklin was clearly having flashbacks while Silva had him in the Thai clinch.

I’d have to look at those early wins to be sure but, as with so many lower level promotions (especially at HW), I assume he could just overpower dudes into submission.

He had a fairly long journey back to the title too, didn’t he? I think it’s been a long time where you see that. A champ loses and gets put on the back burner for awhile in getting a rematch. Looks like it was only a year but he had two fights before the rematch. I think that made it even more demoralizing to work your way back up, have great performances, and still get plowed through in the rematch.

Kimura (ufc)
Standing guillotine
Arm bar
Arm triangle

Not really overpowering subs , but the quality of opposition(and their grappling prowess) in 1st three is suspect

That’s kinda what I meant, he was probably fighting dudes whose reaction to having an athletic 250 pound dude messing with their joints/neck was tapping the fuck out right away, regardless of the amount of technique employed.

I mean that was the norm back in the day, most former champions would fight a journeyman plus a contender in order to get back to title contention.

Instant rematches weren’t a thing.
