Dany flawlessly killed the defenses with very few civilians casualties (till she just decided fuck that) and let her armies in and the remaining forces surrendered. She could have done that season 7 episode 1 or 2 and had the throne all this time and not be a Stalin/Hitler/Ghengis Khan level mass murderer. And had all three dragons and Missandei and sir friendzone.

This is all Tyrion's fault.

Honestly, tonight's episode beats Beyond the Wall for me in terms of absolute shit episodes. I fucking hate this show now.

Literally all the Iron Fleet ships have scorpions. They should have all been shooting at the dragon at once. Dany going in there and attacking the scorpions head on should have been suicide. But, of course, they just have her LeRoy Jenkins it just like Jon in BotB.

Even as she's cleanly running around the perimeter destroying them (as in none of them could just pick her off as she was coming), there would obviously be scorpions at the center of the base for the exact reason.

Cersei has no fucking plan whatsoever and then just starts bawling.

Dany deciding to just burn and slaughter thousands of innocents is completely contrary to her character and it's of course just a ludicrous and illogical turn in her character akin to choosing the dark side. As someone was has been team Dany over team Jon, that just sticks in my craw as lazy fucking writing.

Euron's character was useless and magically in the right place like always. Him and Jaime just happening to meet and fight was idiotic.

Hound and Arya even getting to the Red Keep (Hound especially) was idiotic. He'd have been treated as a hostile given his size and armor. Then his fight with the Mountain was fucking stupid too.

Cersei's death is the least - fucking - satisfying possible death. I mean, what the fuck? It's off-screen. No redemption for Dany, no redemption for Arya, no redemption for Tyrells or Dorne or Sansa or Tyrion or any of the persons she wronged. She just gets held as the walls cave in.

This has to go down as the GOAT biggest drop off in television history: from one of the very best written series of all-time to this shit.
 
I live by ASU. Saw at least 10 girls with fade haircuts and a pierced septum today between going in Target and Petsmart.

The Varys defection - him suddenly not being sure if Dany is a psychopath - is so fucking stupid. He was sure about her back in Mereen when she crucified hundreds and fed those innocent masters to her dragon. And what has she done since then to lose his trust? Oh, she's just made good faith concessions to a northern lord, then risked her life to save him, and then risked her life and sacrificed half her forces to fight for the good of the realm rather than take the throne.

If anything, his confidence in her should be at an all-time high.

He's not on mine just because he doesn't post that often, but he's definitely worthless.

Also, I think JVS's liberal usage of the ignore list is becoming more common. For my first two years here, the only people on my ignore were GSM and, for a little while, Heretic. I've expanded mine to 8 or so posters and I have observed noticeable improvements in threads because of it.
 
@BAM I have to thank you for turning me on to Seder. I don't care for him, but I've really taken a liking to his stand-in Michael Brooks who does his own show where they talk more about ideology, history, dialectics, etc. instead of just current events.


Also, he filled in for Seder in covering Shapiro's BBC boner and he absolutely had me rolling when, in describing Shapiro, he said "...and he's also, ugh, what a whiny little thing." (time stamped for the giggles). If you're unfamiliar with Shapiro, they also do a quick run down of his signature logical fallacy, the motte and bailey.

Really gonna be interesting what I will think tonight. So far, that title belonged to Lost imo, whereas goat quality consistency belongs to Breaking Bad.
