After ignoring a few of them on the front page, I finally clicked a Vox article on Game of Thrones and now regret it. There's already enough shit to complain about with that show before considering race and gender. Fuck that shit.

The gender politics stuff around GOT recently has been so fucking weird.

Especially after episode 3, the MRA types were out in full force about how the show is pandering to feminists and trying to make men seem incompetent. But it's so obvious that female tropes are MUCH more insistent than males ones: basically every female character is painted as unreasonable, hysterical, and self-interested - Sansa, Dany, Arya - while the male characters are completely rational and the viewer can identify with their perspectives - Jon, Tyrian, Varys.

Although i will say that the showrunners inadvertently made some racial commentary on the show in episode 3 when the characters of color (who are characters of color because they are foreigners on the periphery of the story) were basically all sacrificed to protect the white central cast.

Also, JVS isn't perfect. I think his opinions on campaign finance and fungibility of Democratic candidates, for instance, are woefully naive. But he's smarter, more honest, more mature, and probably better than you at just about everything in life.

And the sad thing is that he's not some kind of outlier. He's smarter than the average person who shares his views on every single subject. It's not so much "Heretic is a bad actor" as "Heretic is coming from a culture that strongly encourages bad-faith arguments and prioritizing tribalism over any attempt to investigate objective truth."

Your point is still dumb and you don't know what you're talking about. The Xmen were doing an allegory to the civil rights movement in the 60s. They've also dealt with wide scale genocide. The FF tackled feminism in the 70s. The Cap comics covered a conservative war hero questioning and ultimately rebelling against a corrupt government in the 70s and 80s.

Cloak and Dagger tackled teen homelessness and drug addiction in the early 80s. Daredevil, Spiderman, and the punisher all dealt with the crime and drug epidemic in new york. That's literally ONLY marvel and just off the top of my head.

Comics have ALWAYS had a counterculture element to them. It's not some new SJW thing just because you know nothing about the history of the business.
