And Big Data can be a great tool, but who wields it is more important.

Agree to disagree on that first point. Both are important, but goals don't differ much among candidates in the same party.
 
Hey y'all help me out. I found my fucking DREAM apartment in the French Quarter. I got talked into helping my family with money so my savings suck, I'll be making about a grand a week the next few weeks and I start tour guiding the 26th.

What a pleasant location indeed. I hope you do get to move there and live a meaningful portion of your vibrant existence Mr. Agony.... I will be paying attention....

Tell the landlord/lady that you really want to start a little late and that you'd do anything to make it happen. Put some emphasis on the first syllable of "anything" and stretch it. If you're feeling really bold, wink after the word escapes your lips. Also, make a show of dropping something on your way out and then insincerely say "oops," and bend over in an exaggerated way to pick it up.

Dude, weren't you on here about six months ago talking about a different "dream apartment" that you were hoping to rent?

Be conservative. Settle for a cheap place (<$500) and have roommates if necessary. Build your savings. Don't borrow. I started from $0 and built my savings slowly over the years. Now I'm in an excellent position.

I realize you're older than I was when I started out but you probably have a lot more street smarts than I did at that point plus you have an income source even if it's not that steady.

Seriously? "life was hard for me but I got through it and so can you with conservative values."

If we're at the point where you see that as bragging, something is wrong. It's just thrift spread over some years. Most people can pull it off, so it's not something I would brag about. It's kind of the opposite of bragging, actually. I'm saying I had poor quality of life for a while in order to focus on the future.
