So this ban of a 15 yo account, is it a temp ban?
 
Nothing like hanging out in a place that combines a bunch of disasters in the same area.

We fish off this cape where a hundred foot wave destroyed everything. When you hike where the lighthouse used to be it's creepy in a way it's hard to describe and extremely remote.
The island has three active volcanos on it and of course the weather can be absolutely horid.

It's not uncommon to see lava running down the side of a 10,000' mountain surrounded by a huge orang glow while getting your ass kicked by horrendously ugly extreme wind and waves.
Makes one wonder which one is going to take him out first.


Scotch Cap Lightstation Disaster

On April 1, 1946, Coast Guard Lightstation Scotch Cap was destroyed with a loss of all hands by a tsunami. Although the crew felt the earthquake they did not evacuate. Approximately 45 minutes passed after the earthquake before the arrival of the tsunami.

The following are excerpts from the Direction Finding Station log:
0130 Severe earthquake felt. Building rocked severely. Objects shaken from locker shelves. Duration approximately 30-40 seconds. Building creaked and groaned but no apparent damage. Weather clear, calm.

0157 Second severe quake felt. Shorter in duration but harder than at 0130... Again, no apparent damage, although building shook severely.

0218 Heard terrific roaring of the sea followed by huge sea immediately. Top of wave rose above the cliff back of Scotch Cap light station and struck D/F station causing considerable damage. Crew ordered to high ground. Can't make radio contact so broadcast following message:
PP NMJ NNF NND TIDAL WAVE X MAY HAVE TO ABANDON THIS PLACE X BELIEVE NNHK LOST INT R INT R KKK

0245 Scotch Cap believed lost; lights extinguished and horn silent.

0300 Gathering emergency stores and clothing. Called crew back (as sea is apparently abating) to get more clothing and canned goods. Emergency lights rigged and carrying clothing and supplies pack.

0700 Went to light station; debris strewn all over place. Piece of human intestine found on hill.


Initial SITREP:

TIDAL WAVE PRECEDED BY EARTHQUAKE COMPLETELY DESTROYED SCOTCH CAP LIGHT STATION WITH LOSS OF ALL HANDS X TOP OF WAVE STRUCK THIS UNIT CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE BUT NO LOSS OF LIFE X ENGINE ROOM FLOODED OUT BUT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN EMERGENCY POWER IF NO FURTHER DAMAGE EXPERIENCED X WILL SEARCH FOR BODIES OF SCOTCH CAP PERSONNEL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE X REQUEST INSTRUCTIONS.


Pavlof has not only the most active volcano on earth but Pavlof bay is famous for blowing from 0 to 120 knots in a matter of minutes. It's sunk many boats.

Not familiar with NO real estate but asking for a June1st move in on a May 10th availability doesn't seem unreasonable to me. Pretty sure around here you could secure that by offering a $500 non refundable deposit if you're that serious about it.

Be conservative. Settle for a cheap place (<$500) and have roommates if necessary. Build your savings. Don't borrow. I started from $0 and built my savings slowly over the years. Now I'm in an excellent position.

Oh I managed to sublet it, and two months before I switched the lease over to my name the guy I was subletting from got knocked the fuck out by his landlords boyfriend twice in one night. So there went that apartment. It was my dream apartment six months ago, I'm quite more successful than I was then as well.

I'm not getting roommates and $1,000 a month for a gorgeous creole cottage in the French Quarter is very affordable. It will save me a minimum of $100 a month in transportation costs and an hour a day.

Plus, living in one of the most historic neighborhoods in the country would be amazing, and I "date" a lot of tourists. All in all a win win.

The whole Trump presidency has never really felt real to me. It feels like I'm watching some weird gameshow overseas.

We're having a federal election in a month. The election date was just announced a week or so ago. All the campaigning is over and done with all within one month. Get a big turnout, free sausage sizzle for voters. Easy breezy. You know what's all about - policy positions. With the major issues being the taxation proposals and the environment protection schemes. Minimal amount of bullshit. I'm probably going labour this go around to limit negative gearing on rental properties - it's fucking up the local housing market.

Enjoy the next year and half of US primaries and election bullshit.
