They're not THAT bad. We think fragile because of the high prices and Apple aesthetics, but computer components can take a fairly large beating.

Is that why your mom's nickname is "computer components"?

The hardest part of building a computer nowadays is jumper configuration. Everything else is basically expensive legos. 90% of the work is just making sure you got the right shit (s/o to pcpartpicker.com).

I don't speak nerd.

For real, though, I admire that you can do that stuff, but it doesn't interest me and I about threw my laptop through a window trying to snap my spacebar back in last week after popping it out to get a crumb. And it still flops up and down now.

It's good work, and the systems involved come easy to me. You're a lawyer, it's nothing beyond your skill level tbh (I'd rate law WAY more difficult).

The only thing I dislike about it is people trying to get skilled labor for free, but I think that's all jobs. If i'm not fixing my own machine, I tell people to go to Geek Squad lol.

Perfect gif

Whenever the lounge turns into an insult slinging whine fest over past events my eyes just glaze over and I don't read any of them. This has been going on so long tho I feel like I'm scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed with the thumb-workout before finding something relevant again to actually stop and read.

My like count has been so artificially propped up by you, they should put an asterisk beside it.
Add another one Barry Bonds

Computer folk and car mechanics constantly getting the "Hey, could you just look at this for me quick?" from friends and acquaintances

Haha, try having a profession where your opinion is your services. People are always asking for advice without realizing that, unless something is in your narrow practice area (of which there are hundreds), your advice/services necessarily involve research.

I got a Lenovo Flex 5 Yoga (or something like that) and I love it. It's by far the best laptop I've ever had and I haven't had to get any work at all on it in the 3 years I've had it. When it goes out I'm going right back to getting the exact same model.

My ASUS laptop of like 8 years is blue screen of death every 5 minutes now. It was a valiant warrior.

Did you reinstall the OS or flash a disk image? Most BSODs are software-related, in my experience.

It's done this once before. I redid the software with @Tachy 's help and then later when it was giving me a rough time I completely swapped out the HD. It's honestly time for me to upgrade anyways.

I have a really nice tower but don't have the room for a desk or a separate compute monitor to use it consistently right now.

Sometimes motherboard and RAM issues also cause BSODs. If memory, the problem is relatively easy to fix. If it's a motherboard issue you probably need a new PC.

The biggest issue is it's a laptop giving me issues.

Thing is a bitch to replace parts in cause you have to make sure what you buy will fit and shit.

RAM shouldn't be a problem. Once the motherboard goes, it's over. The laptop I've always used on this account has been with me since 2008. Runs great. One day, the motherboard will fail.

Place near me has some little 15'' 4GB/2.6GHz/500GB Lenovos at $160. Gonna try to grab one, that's a damn good deal and I need a knockaround for school and writing, and a second monitor. Starbucks is getting tired of me bringing my whole tower setup in there.
