I like the older stuff better. It has a more poppy 2000s alternative rock sound.

The newer stuff is more produced and closer to traditional rock or even metal.

Actually, your auditory cortex is just fawlty.

Good Apollo is more prog rock, but, irrespective of genre, it's just better imo. Better musicianship, better lyrics, better production, and (I think) much more emotionally moving.

The dueling solos in Final Cut is still prob my favorite vocal-less music ever. So emotional.


Also, SSTD didn't have the songs-within-songs epics of GA and IKS. Like this one, where the first bit is real poppy and not my style, then at 2:20 it enters into a completely different apocalyptic tone, before shifting again at 5:18. Just epic.
