Not yet lol. She said something a few months ago that she has always wanted to play violin so i pulled the trigger on it

I hope you live in a big place where you can have a lot of distance while she is practicing. Violin is a brutal instrument to listen to even with a mute. My wife is decent at violin, but it is loud and annoying listening to her practice in our small apartment. Luckily, she cannot play for very long because the neighbours will complain.

Best case scenario for you is that she was not actually serious about really wanting to play violin and will fool around with it for a week or two and then it will just sit there and collect dust. It takes years and hours of daily practice to become even decent at violin.

Your life is hilarious.

Jesus lady. Retire and enjoy the time you have left.

I am convinced she wanted the first female President to replace her and now is holding on to try and make sure her legacy is not to have given the right a solid conservative majority.

Ah yes. Spite. A wonderful motivator.

So I quit smoking cigarettes about eight days ago. Went the Juul route, rolling spliffs to help wean myself off and turns out quitting smoking makes you hella sick.

So not only am I in the worst mood ever I'm sick as fuck.

Luckily I discovered the show Happy on Netflix and it's amazing. Y'all seen it?

It's been on my list. Good?

Also good job on quitting. Smartest decision I've ever made.

It's really really fucked up but well acted and well shot. It's amazing though, really funny too.

No lie, I decided to quit because I bought juice, wanting to be healthier as well as save money. The Juul is a lifesaver though.

Ah yes. Spite. A wonderful motivator.

It's not spite. It's selflessness. It's her very basically understanding how awful for the country and humankind conservative majorities have been and what kind of lasting damage to democracy, good faith governance, equality, qualify of life, and ecological sustenance that the most dominantly conservative court in well over a century could be.

If the Supreme Court/country had never been able to get out from under solid conservative majorities, we could be living in a country where it's illegal to try and stop rich people from openly buying elections, the veto power of highly concentrated capital dictates a constant race to the bottom between states screwing over citizens, the national economy is log-jammed and billions are pissed away on transactional costs because all the states function as competing sovereigns with 2,500 (50x50) sets of rules, child labor still exists, unions are unconstitutional and worker and wage protections are illegal, descendants of slaves are only partial citizens, women aren't allowed to own property or businesses, state governments are allowed to run tyrannical banana republics, and who knows how much more.

Sorry to get on my soapbox, but people really underestimate how existentially dangerous, and contrary to what the country wants, that a conservative Supreme Court is.

Not thread-worthy, but still pisses me off. Good to see the kid win and to see that his teammates had his back.

High School Wrestling Ref Who Called Colleague The N-Word Makes Black Wrestler Cut Off His Dreadlocks

Alan Maloney, a high school wrestling referee in New Jersey who called another referee the n-word in an incident two years ago, this week told a black teen from Buena High School that he couldn’t wear a cover over his dreadlocks during a wrestling meet, and that he would have to forfeit or cut them off. The wrestler, Andrew Johnson, decided to cut off his dreadlocks, right there on the mat.

The story has been going around the internet today thanks to this tweet from SNJ Sports Director Mike Frankel, who framed footage of a distraught Johnson getting his hair chopped off as an example of great team spirit:

That’s one way to view the incident, another is to see a teenager forced to live through a humiliating moment because some dipshit referee who likes to use the n-word didn’t approve of his hairstyle.

Maloney’s previous racist incident ocurred on March 25, 2016, when he called a fellow referee the n-word. The Courrier Post wrote about the incident in October of that year:

Over a disagreement about homemade wine, said Preston Hamilton, who is African American, fellow referee Alan Maloney poked his finger in his chest and hurled the epithet. Maloney told the Courier-Post he does not remember using the word at all, let alone directing it at Hamilton, but believes the accounts of witnesses who told him he said the word. Hamilton told the Courier-Post he responded by slamming Maloney, who is white, to the ground.

Both men were suspended for one year, but both suspensions were overturned after appeals. Why he’s still allowed to referee high school matches and empowered to force a black teenager to cut off his hair is anybody’s guess.

I emailed the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association for comment and will update if I hear back.

Flo is going to be covering it.

Ref will probably be fired. A lot of big name college wrestlers like Seth Gross and Mark Hall are speaking out about it.
