So, I'm probably going to be getting a new job which means I have to quit/resign this current one I have...

How do 2 weeks notices work? I've never had to do one. Is it a simple sit down and chat with my boss to give them a head's up or is there some formal way I'm supposed to write it out?

I've always written it out and delivered it to my supervisor, even if they knew it was coming. Usually they appreciate having a paper trail for it (HR especially).

So I'm in a Gelson's Market the other day, and saw this. It's in my fridge now.

It's generally customary to in some way work in a display of your tiny wiener.

LOL fact is the HR department will be the same for my new job. Moving jobs within the county is going to seem weird.

So... sit in gum?

(It's a goddamn reference to The League)

There's a total of 6 tennants but 3 have their boyfriend/girlfriend over like 5 of the 7 days of the week so THEY practically live there too and one of those groupings there's a like 8-9 year old kid too.

The problem I think is every room has it's own heater that has it's own thermostat. So me and the dude next to my room are running with the thing barely over 45 to prevent pipes from freezing while someone else in the house might have it set to fucking 80 in their room.

time to move.

Tell your boss first as not to burn bridges and then hand in a formal letter just stating that you are giving your notice

Oh, I already let her know that I applied for the open position.

Our office is a complete cluster fuck. One lady resigned to take a new position with the local community college, another quit Monday morning out of the blue and a third hasn't been in all week.

Theres no penalty for just not saying anything and leaving -- but references (especially that of last job) are pretty important -- so giving them 2-3 weeks helps you keep good standing.

My company is dealing with a new policy of 3 references + current boss and or manager for new hires. Its causing me some pain points as i have this really great candidate who is now hesitant because they dont want their current boss knowing that they are looking for a new job AND doesnt want this job contingent on that reference, which is totally understandable because he could be doubly fucked.

Yikes.

I'm lucky my current boss wants me to find a job that has better upward mobility for not only promotions but just financially too.

"You're criminally underpaid in your position"

Is a common refrain I've heard.

Yeah that's unreasonable imo. I understand them wanting the most recent analysis but you can't expect that people will want to blow up their current spot. I think 3 references and however-many-interviews should give someone a good idea of the candidate. I actually think the current manager would have too many natural conflicts to give a reliable assessment anyway. Three references, one of which is a former supervisor, should suffice.

I agree - problem is he is a nanosat specialist which is a niche area of astronautics and his previous work experience was not in his mieux. We are probably going to waive that requirement for him and others we want because it is unreasonable

Requesting feedback from the current employer is a pretty crazy requirement imo. But it shows it makes sense to collect assessments every now and then just in case.

The Mattis resignation thread has brought the dumb today in addition to the Morocco thread.

EDIT:
I apologize to the mods for any increase in "reports" because of me in that thread BTW.

@sniper where you at? You can't just sit by and not defend your boy AJ.

maybe edit something in here later, after I consult my neoliberal click
Click or cliq?

But also, the people who complain the most about something, or accuse others of something have been proving themselves to be guilty of that very thing. Over and over again. I cant think of the word or phrase for that right now. .
Believe you mean projecting ... or gaslighting maybe? Shit, now it's going to bug me.

I wonder what Trump thinks when we talk about snakeheads....
