One thing that nags at me about these inspirational videos of persons with massive deformities is that they're always men.

Being born a female - where your physical beauty is fundamental to your identity, to how you are valued, to how seriously you are taken, and to what you can achieve - with a horrible deformity is such a more difficult life.

In the case of Jono Lancaster, Latif Khatana, and a host of other men with facial deformities including TC , all of them ended up with wives who are beautiful by prevailing physical standards.

For a woman with Treacher Collins? Your prospects are much more limited in every way, but especially with regard to finding a romantic partner. So, while I applaud Lancaster for not being scared of passing it on to his children, I wish more attention were paid to the fact that his daughter will have an objectively more difficult time with it than he did.

Well we were talking about foot injuries to players in basketball. Typically that kind of thing pops up on 7 footers like Embiid, Yao, Oden, etc. 6'8 isn't a size that would give me concern about foot issues but his slim frame may be a problem, as was pointed out.
