That’s a long standing joke down here too how Social Security will have no money for my generation cause of Baby Boomers
Well, it probably more has to do with the fact that people aren't having many kids these days.

What do you understand "efficiently" to mean? I can't see how SS could be any more efficient.
Sure, you could privatize it. Give everyone a separate retirement/savings account that they contribute to...like a government run 401k plan instead of drawing from one huge pool of money that is on a fixed payout.

That would be far less efficient, though.

Has anyone made a thread on this?

‘MUST-RUN’
Sinclair Forces Local TV Stations to Air Segment Defending Tear-Gassing Migrants

If you tuned into one of the approximately 200 local news stations owned and operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group this week, you may have seen the company’s “chief political analyst” Boris Epshteyn—the short-lived Trump administration official—deliver this aggressive defense of the Border Patrol’s decision to shoot tear gas at a group of asylum-seekers that included women and children.

A gigantic government owned 401k plan seems like a potentially huge conflict of interest, not to mention that the market is subject to volatility that a safety net should not be.

I think a conflict of interest could be avoided with a well-structured approach. But your other objection is good. I'd support an SWF with a UBD (dividend), and that would have similar issues, but it wouldn't put the elderly in poverty in a downturn.

I'd have to research the idea some, but on face value the idea that the government becomes shareholders in corporations is unsettling to me. The scale would be enormous.

It would be a radical change for sure! Ideally, I'd like to see a land-value tax and SWF replace most taxes and most of the safety net.

You know---when Michael Jackson sings that Billie Jean wasn't his lover, I believe him.

I dont think theres even a debate, Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer of all time

Im not sure young boys would agree with that.

It is necessary to lie to achieve anything of value. And a skilled liar is nearly impossible to detect.

MJ was a baddass, no doubt about it. Saw him live once. The female talent in that crowd was ludicrous.

Man that MS runoff was closer than I expected. Only about a 10 point win for the (R).
