Steve (or Stephen--not Steven) Bannon was Trump's campaign CEO.
Thanks for the spelling correction.

I think it's wrong to leap from "campaign CEO said X" to "the candidate ran on X", and in your case the Xs aren't actually the same thing.

I think I was right to say that running against an imaginary crime wave was a big part of his campaign.

Except that he never claimed that crime had increased nationwide, and the increases he did mention are real.

Actually affecting policy definitely requires coordinated effort and compromise. I don't consider that corruption, though. There's a story that people were circulating in the primary (I've mentioned this before) that I really liked. Elizabeth Warren was talking about a bankruptcy bill that was on the verge of being signed by Bill Clinton that she (as an academic who focused on that area) strongly opposed. Hillary called a meeting with her to discuss it. Warren said Clinton showed remarkable aptitude in grasping the issue (asking good questions, etc.), and then went back to the WH and immediately killed it. Later, when Hillary was a senator, she voted for a similar bill, and Warren (then unfamiliar with politics) attributed it to the fact that she was representing a place that relied on banks and got donations from them. But the real story was that the bill had the votes to pass (though it would be somewhat unpopular), and Clinton bargained with Republicans, offering some bipartisan support in exchange for changes that would make it a little less bad though still not something she would really support. That's still operating with good intentions; it's just using limited power in an intelligent way to make the country a little better than it would be otherwise.
Just to be clear, I don’t believe all politicians are corrupt, in a criminal sense. However, I don’t believe politicians really care about people. Their main concern, especially over time, is securing their position of power and spoils.

I certain do believe it is their intention to keep the people fighting amongst ourselves.

FYI, I learned in a recent Sherdog thread that cynics are dumber than other people. Science!

A response to the en banc petition was filed in that Hawaii handgun carry case some of you are following. @Cubo de Sangre @Greoric @JamesRussler @Quipling

Thanks. Your arguments all make sense, provided the claims you base your reasoning on are true. And yeah, ten years of this shit is disgusting.

A few spots it seemed like there was text missing or something. Fyi.

There's a Sureno gang member in my coutroom right now... how exciting.

Not actually exciting.. it's 11:15 and I've been in Court non-stop since 8:30 and need to piss since about 10.

I may be shameless, but Im not pathetic enough to buy the bullshit politicians feed me.

Yes, understanding policy or recognizing policy trends....or just basically recognizing reality is "buying bullshit from politicians" -- not blindly supporting a party based on rhetoric and remaining completely ignorant to the substance of their policies.

No, ignorance is strength.

I agree with cap. I dont know why you have to toss in all the insults. I dont say that stuff because I want to insult dems, I say that stuff because I dont see how any of these politicians do anything for our benefit. I think youd be more effective if you just explained why we are wrong without throwing in the insults TBH, bro. Just IMO

You're on the same side of the argument, and a completely unintelligent and factually incoherent one, for different reasons: @Captain Davis is being purposefully dishonest and ignoring obvious facts to justify his unjustifiable allegiances. @sniper is just repeating his shtick of putting his head in the sand to justify intellectual and political laziness: you don't have to care or try or alter your perspective whatsoever if you just ignorantly say "hey, it doesn't matter because they're all the same."

Also, @Captain Davis, you pettily saturated this forum with childish insults about Homer and then, when I called you out for your empty insult posts, you sent me a long-winded message defending your behavior. So, yeah, your faux-high roading is pretty transparent.

Finna get his number?

I see the Three Musketeers have been getting slapped around ITT

@Trotsky

Where do you buy ties for work? Most of mine came from Mens Wearhouse and are starting to show their age (fraying/wear spots) and need replacing but their shit isn't... well... it isn't inexpensive to be frank unless you get one of their Buy 1 Get 1 sorta sales.

The banter between me and Homer started somewhere else. I didn’t mess with him much here. Also, that became more personal. And I never brought him up here unless someone else started it.

I never name call when debating a real subject. I had a legit debate in the debate threads a while back over a touchy subject, where my stance was unpopular. I never once called anyone a name just because they disagreed with me.

And I stated that I agree more with Republicans, but I think they are shady as well. I don’t trust any politicians and want the least amount of government interference in our lives as possible.

You can’t even defend the fact that we argue over the same shit year after year regardless of who is in power. You can’t simply acknowledge that you are easily led by politicians who are full of empty promises.

What did Obama do to change your life so much different than the life you live now?

BTW, you blindly follow a party using the same rhetoric, it’s just rhetoric you agree with.
