Haha, I've actually thought about that. Pretty much the only thing I notice re guns is when a character fires like 30 rounds out of a pistol.

I don't know nearly as much about guns as Cubo, but what annoys me is that basically anything between the character and the bullet can work as cover in movies. Car doors is a common one, and that's bad enough, but I've even seen cereal boxes stop bullets.

Haha, I was actually just thinking about the shootout in Breaking Bad between Hank and Tuco, where the former uses a car door to shield from an AK-something-something.

That doesn't bother me as much as when it's furniture. It's fairly common for people to be shielded by couches. The 21 Jump Street reboot comes to mind.

I remember JRE making fun of how Hollywood always would portray being knocked out with a gun as just going to sleep for awhile when it usually means serious brain damage and a concussion.

Yeah, people nap a lot in action movies. Really warped my impression of getting hit in the head as a child.

There's certainly plenty of that. A recent Mayberry thread also pointed out the noise issues. Then of course there's the impeccable accuracy.

But it can be fun stuff. I loved this movie.

Also, the long-term KO with no serious consequences. If someone is out for a full minute, they should be rushed to the ER. Once a friend of mine had an accident while car surfing, and he was out for maybe 30 seconds, though he fell on his first attempt to stand was actually sitting for more like 10 minutes. We decided to take him to the ER even though he said he was fine. On the way, it became apparent that his short-term memory was seriously fucked.

"Where are we going?" "Are you serious?" "Yeah, it's late, where are we going?" "You hit your head bad and we're taking you to the ER." "Oh shit, can you call my parents?" "Yeah."

Then a minute later he says, "where are we going?" And the whole thing repeated. Went through that all the way there.

Flip a table on it's side and get behind it. Invulnerability achieved.

My favorite is ins Gangster Squad when the old guy faced off against gangsters with automatic tommy guns by using a (double action?) 6-shooter revolver and killing them all with one shot, such that the huge disparity in bullet capacity doesn't come into play.

Yea, I had that experience with a friend. He'd cycle through the same three questions as we were trying to take him to the ER. At one point, when he went to say the first question again, I cut him off and answered all three and his face was priceless.

Also, I've been around enough contact sports to see concussions and how long term they can be. Even had a person on our rugby team who took a full year off school cause of a head injury. We are a lot more fragile then we think. It kinda does surprise me how MMA careers can last the length they do.

Had that experience taking a co-worker to the ER after he'd slipped on some ice in the parking lot. Reminded me of the movie Memento.

You know one of my biggest pet peeves in television and film? How horribly unrealistic the color of blood always is. Even for serious films that are supposed to be realistic, when there's a really bloody scene the blood is always bright red and dries/stains bright red, instead of being crimson and drying as a burnt sienna color.

@Cubo de Sangre You like gory shit, right? You notice this?

Rob Zombie gets it right

People having phone books in their head in movies / TV pisses me off. Like, everyone of their friends, relatives and acquaintances, all numbers are memorized. Even with easy contact abilities in modern phones, they still dial on keypads without looking the number up.

Also, there's like 8 Fast and Furious movies and not one time does anyone stop for gas

<{clintugh}>

Not a fan. Rob Zombie movies are to white people what Tyler Perry's Madea movies are to black people.

I don't know what that is, but regardless, Zombie gets blood right. Even if I'm his only fan on this board

I appreciate that he does his own thing at times. I took some flack in the thread on the Halloween movie for appreciating his second installment in the series more than most on the basis that it was ambitious and unique (whereas his first was exactly what I feared a Rob Zombie interpretation would be).

I didn't realize how common that was.

When this happened to my buddy at JJ class I couldn't stop laughing, because he usually had a great deadpan sense of humor. Like if you could imagine Norm MacDonald doing it, and how funny that would be.

Ha, I also take guff due to me ranking Zombies Halloween movies at the top of the list even though he did go off the deep end with his interpretation of Myers. People hate that he tried to give him a back story and a reason for his madness, I like that he did.

I'll take the heat for enjoying them.

Personally I cringe at anything with poker or climbing. Every hand from Rounders was hideously played, but they made up for it with incredible storytelling. I once sat through a bunch of films with climbing as a major theme and counted the errors. Vertical Limit was by far the worst offender, followed by Cliffhanger. The Eiger Sanction got most stuff right, and it was actually pretty technical.

The stupidity of modern day republicans is seemingly infinite.

I hated, hated his backstory for Myers as some bullied trailer trash animal torturer turned hillbilly hulk. As a fan of the series, that was a big no-no, and I thought it was kind of a cheap and expected route.

But I liked that he went a little weird with the second, bringing in the more overt mysticism and transgression of a lot of genre norms. I actually just turned it on to have on in the background while I work, since I haven't seen it since 2010. I'll let you know if I end up hating it more than I remembered.

I'm not a complete fan of the hillbilly story but I do like that zombie attempted to explain the story of why and how he became Michael Myers. I do like that he wasn't a super natural, stealth version - but a 7 ft monster who beat the shit out of people with a knife.

I get people like the myers character because he's such an unknown entity outside of being viewed as pure evil, I just like that Rob tried to give a some sort of reason for it.

The new movie was awesome and probably will rank highest on my list after second viewing

I saw Cliffhanger and recently for the first time in ages and couldn't stop shaking my head at how gassed that roided ogre would be after 3 minutes of actual climbing.
