The 3060 Ti is surprisingly close to the 3070 in performance, and should be more readily available within a month or so. If your monitor isn't 1440p or 120hz, that should be ample.
You could look at some of the 2080s probably. Those aren't as pricey as the brand new stuff that has come out and still more than capable from my understanding.
Perhaps I should have been more emphatic about what I meant by "so far out of my budget". Looking for the 3070, I saw the 2080 price (mistaking it for the 3070) and said, oh that's much too high, then I noticed my mistake and saw the price for the 3070 instead and I was like <{clintugh}>

The 1660 would be a useless effort, I gather?

The 1660 Ti is OK for 1080p, but not beyond and probably not for long. No raytracing either.

I have a 1070 still and have been told it'd probably still be passable for a little while longer.

Basically I got told in the PC Build/Buy thread to up my RAM, change up my cooler system (going with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 air cooler) and then sit for a bit and wait for the next gen of processors and shit to come out and then maybe buy the prior generation of stuff. I have a 2k monitor so my 1070 isn't able to utilize the full ability of that monitor but as long as I can get a smooth frame rate that's all I really care about.

@Andy Capp

Depending where you were looking at the prices for the 3070 and 3080 you could have seen third party sellers, aka scalpers, trying to sell them for like 4 grand.

Well, the PC has lasted 8 years without an upgrade so that's pretty good value from the i7, I'd say. For the video card, all I can say is oh well. That's so far out of my budget I'm going to just bow out of the video game discussions from now on, methinks.
I say comparable because there are cards that will get you that performance without some of the forward facing features like raytracing or DLSS.

As @Ruprecht said though, not for long though. 3000 series was such a big jump in performance and feature set that devs are going to start using those features on the regular. Raytracing is going to be a hard divider like DirectX releases are.

The fact that cheese and pickle isn't leading by a country mile, let alone isn't a fucking option is a lasting stain on this forum and you should be all be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.

That said i am partial to a BLT every now and then.

Weirdest sandwich that is actually good goes to that abomination Elvis use to eat
PB&J with bacon
I used to go to a burger joint that did an Elvis burger. 8 oz burger with bacon, fried bananas and peanut butter. Absolutely amazing

Here's your Nick, @Gutter Chris. I told you I was a Tyler and I still don't really care for it. That's a little boy's name, though I know I often act like one. :(

I think it's solid enough, and she's more than qualified. I'm not after a full bore trade war with the CCP and never was. I just want restrictions on inorganic FDI and export controls on semiconductor materials, machinery and software. This was a policy actually initiated by Obama sans the chest thumping on Twitter that I hope Dems can get more openly on board with again now that the double hand job dancing dumbass is going to be out on his ass soon. Looking at you, @Jack V Savage and @Gandhi (<3 you both). I don't want to stop selling China the hundreds of billions worth in integrated circuits that we do, it would cut industry revenue by over 50% and cost hundreds of thousands of high skill, high wage stateside jobs. I want to choke off China's ability to produce the chips themselves and keep them in a state of perpetual dependence.

Big no on that for me (my biggest disagreement with Democrats has been their opposition to free trade). Plus, I find the idea of trying to keep a billion people in poverty (or in other ways to slow growth) to be horrifying, and I don't think it benefits us in any way, unless you're just talking about trying to stop IP theft (which is kind of mixed, IMO--the point of IP is to encourage innovation, but there's a tradeoff there, and I'm not sure to what extent China's theft there actually slows the process).

Side note: China discourse in low-brow discussions is really fucked up. You got a bunch of jingoist assholes making all kinds of dumb attacks, but then they're conspicuously silent on serious issues, and they end up supporting policies that strengthen China's influence. Look at Trump. Totally cool with them killing protesters and putting religious minorities in fucking concentration camps, opposed the U.S.'s effort to take the lead in directing trade in Asia (and thus letting China take that role), but he talked shit about how much stuff we buy from them, and initiated a badly planned and ultimately failed trade war. They're used as a scapegoat and a focus for nationalist/racist hatred and strengthening the base's solidarity, but when it comes to taking effective action to actually improve things, forget it. This is inspired partly by a thread @PainIsLIfe (one of the worst human beings on the board) started yesterday, where he said that Swalwell, who has regularly criticized China, never criticizes them because he noted that Ratcliffe's assertion didn't match what he'd been briefed on and didn't like Trump's attempt to rename COVID.

Originally it was the new right wing for younger people. Conservative values without being hung up on religion or keeping same sex marriage down. But now because it's been tied to white nationalism by so many it now has a negative connotation.

Coined by Spencer and he had a zine called Alternative Right that he started in 2010. So the white nationalism was part of it from the very beginning. It has a positive connotation among white nationalists.

No point in getting a 3070 over a 3060 Ti.
The 1660 Super is a great card for 1080p but you don’t get ray tracing and DLSS.

Yeah, I hear that. When I was a kid I just followed what my brothers did and put sugar on my sugary cereal LOL and ate all sorts of candy that was just pure sugar basically. Nowadays, I've cut out adding sugar to anything (almost) and reduced consumption of it all round otherwise.
I was never much of a sugar person, it would honestly be healthier if I drank regular coke than Diet Coke though, it’s like the one vice I can’t seem to quit. I was always more of a salty carb lover. Pretzels, popcorn, chips. Don’t get me wrong I like sweets, but if I’m grabbing one thing for a snack it’s probably something salty not sweet.

Just be aware there's an exception to every rule and in this case, it's people who like Japanese mayo because it's the fucking bomb on nearly anything, including cold cuts if applied lightly. But I still prefer mustard for that so I may not be in that group of grossers anyway.
I feel like I’m boring I eat most things plain.

I’m pretty sure polish or someone told me before that cheese steaks are supposed to made with provolone.
