It's still a lie. If someone is so misinformed and uninformed that they unknowingly spread lies, they are still lying. They don't get a pass because they're too ignorant to know better.

I know you weren't talking to me here, but man, I have a major problem with people who go around telling lies and fairy tales to vulnerable people, in order to brainwash and fool them into believing very outdated and immoral philosophies. And it still kind of amazes me that more decent people don't have a major problem with that sort of abuse and con artistry.

Didn’t you almost convert to Mormonism once? Or actually convert? Maybe my immunity to it causes me to be less offended by it?

I still appreciate hearing people’s philosophies though, even when I disagree. And I love fairy tales, you can usually learn from them and they’re fun; I just don’t believe in them.

I get that but like I showed in that earlier posts Muslims rarely forcibly converted people and Christians didn't either for at least the first 400 years of their existence.

I'm just being frank about the religions. Jews are generally not open to converts because that's not what their religion is about unlike Christianity and Islam for better or for worse.

Jews are very open to converts. That’s a separate matter from actively seeking to convert others. But go to any synagogue and show interest and people will be very happy to engage you to whatever degree you wish.

Yes, it's a virtual belief - an abstraction above lower-level, truer belief- unless a person is mentally ill or seriously brainwashed.

But beyond that really shockingly simple idea that few have the courage to admit, it's still a problem of morality. Scapegoating being probably the worst fundamental lesson of Christianity. It's very immoral to instruct people in the moral goodness of scapegoating and blood magic. The people going around preaching that are being bad people.

That all sounds reasonable to me. Like I said before when you quoted me, it’s the aggression or force that bothers me. In fact I find it reprehensible.

Deliberately trying to deceive others is scummy, too. Maybe I’m the sucker for thinking most religious people are genuine if not in their metaphysical beliefs at least in the belief that their moral system is best for the world.

No, its not edgy, but the compulsion to ridicule something you don't believe is an attempt to be edgy.
I don't believe cats are superior to dogs, but I don't feel the need to pontificate on the issue. If somebody feels that way and they're not hurting anybody in the process then good for them. Now, of course there are charlatans that do hurt people, and its not just people who preach divinity; look no further than the Oval Office (and not just the last 2 years) and the religious fervor around Trump and Clinton. Religion has, if nothing else, proven to be a benefit to people. For that reason its a good thing. Go after the charlatans and the criminals, but attacking somebody's religion just because it makes you feel superior is played out.
